I'm trying to figure out if there is more info available for overseer, other then what was given through its short tutorial. 1. How many agents are there for common, uncommon, rare, and elite? I have 180 agents total and still can not match up all the traits and stuff needed for each agent in all the quests. 2. What are the level progression bars helping with? What are their purposes? I have most all maxed in levels but don't know what they are doing for me or are they just broke? 3. Am I suppose to have to visit my agents listing before I start quests each and every time to click the ones still incapacitated sitting at 0hr,0min,0sec to refresh them so I can start new quests? Or mabey this is a bug? 4. Is it suppose to be possible to get a critical failure on a 90%+ success rate for a mission when having all the beneficial traits matched in? I'm sure there are other questions I'm not thinking about right now and just wish there were more comprehensive info buttons and tabs in the game to help answer questions on it.
1) The tier breakdown of all 181 Agents: 84 common, 60 uncommon, 24 rare, 13 elite, 1 of the elites however can not be acquired at this time 2) They unlock higher Level quests which give more rewards in some cases 3) It's a bug 4) Yes, if you fail it can also critical fail
What is the difference between a fail and a critical fail? I have had a couple critical fails, but did not notice any penalty other than failing the mission. Did I miss something bad that happened?
on 2 its funny you say that my mage is modtly all lvl 3 on all the quest lines and ymy chanter is only 1 or in some 2 with the exception of recruits on both, however chanter has a greater variety of missions with higher difficulty than mage ver single overseer refresh
Has anyone noticed that the elite agents seem to get captured or missing more than the other ones. Since I got Ambassator D'vinn only used him twice and captured twice. Now to recover him it will cost 648 DBC! or I can wait 30 hours or so. Maybe this is a "special" feature but shouldn't the elites be less likely to be captured? and why is recovery so shockingly high priced. Yea I get it's free and you can just do some clicking around and some skill less quests, no ones forcing you to pay. However lets just call it what it is. A cash grab, for not very good rewards and no real point to it. Blatantly falsely advertised as a catch up tool, then nerfed. Badly introduced and very little from the dev's as to what use this steaming pile of horse crap is? other than snatching peoples money. Tempted by a carrot on a stick which turns out to be rotten. I'm amazed there hasn't been numerous small claims going in against DPG over it. But I suppose it's just too much hassle for a few $$$, and they would probably ban your accounts too just out of spite. edit. heh just noticed my elite Phinigel Autropus captured also for 57 hours...I can recover him to be captured again for the bargin price of 1539 DBG cash... (I'll pass thank you)
I have put some info together for Overseer at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Overseer Maybe that will help you.
1. How many agents are there for common, uncommon, rare, and elite? I have 180 agents total and still can not match up all the traits and stuff needed for each agent in all the quests. Main ways to get agents are the recruit missions. Crit sucess on mission will reward extra agents. Use Coin to buy agents from the in game vendor Use /market to buy agents. 2. What are the level progression bars helping with? What are their purposes? I have most all maxed in levels but don't know what they are doing for me or are they just broke? If you are Maxed in most level you HURT your self. the only way you can be max in so many is if you been using "retire" to get XP. This is VERY BAD thing to do. On the Stats Tab the level is used to open up higher level quest. Higher level quest require more agents and you need a bigger pool to be successful at them. The best thing to do is to keep your level as low as possible so that you can get higher success chance so you can get get more crits and earn more agents. Leveling to fast will case you to struggle more then anything. Once you have 181 different agents or close to it then you level up so that you get better rewards. but that best you no longer need new agents at that point. currently there is 181 different agents. You say you have 180 but if your having trouble matching quest it because you don't have 180 different agents you have doubles. You need to up grade your double into higher agents so you can get the agents your missing. 3. Am I suppose to have to visit my agents listing before I start quests each and every time to click the ones still incapacitated sitting at 0hr,0min,0sec to refresh them so I can start new quests? Or mabey this is a bug? This is because you tried to power level your progress. you now have level 4 and level 5 quest that have a higher fail " incapacite" level. Incapacitated agent are not able to quest. and double agents that are icon are blocked as well. Meaning their no reason to have extra agents of the same type. You want to have as many diffrent agents as you can VS more of the same name. This is another reason people should level their progression as slowly as possible to keep quest level lower and Incapacitate levels lower. 4. Is it suppose to be possible to get a critical failure on a 90%+ success rate for a mission when having all the beneficial traits matched in? Yes. Think of this like a D20 .. you can always roll a 1. The higher % help to shift the chance of failure but there is alway a chance I got a crit failure on a 100% .
Thank you for your info and work on this. However it is misleading and should be fixed. examples: You said "Other slots below are not mandatory to fill those slots with agents of the same job skill." Any slot with a "!" Must match the job type not just the 1st slot. Any slot with a "?" doesn't need to match the job type. Another example Your "quest detail" show the % for matching job type. However those % can change based one the agents Job level. you may get 5% for a level one and and extra 2-3% for each level above that. Your starting % show 69% but this changes based on the level of the quest and the rarity of the quest. I would also add a disclaimer to the retire agent in that taking the XP will up the level of quest you receive and if you don't have the agents require can make it harder to complete quest. In most cases gain level is a good thing but in over seer it can be harmful if done to quickly.

When picking your agents there is a "incapacitation risk X%" The higher level require more agents and have a higher % so yes your going to see more agents become incapacitated the higher level your quest are. If you roll a D100 and have a 2% Incap rate your not going to see it much. When your rolling 5 D100 and have a 10%-20% incap rate your going to see it show up. having done 953 quest I had 1-3 agents incap at a time but most of the time I don't lose many agents. and often have them recover before I lose more. side note the recover quest can help you get them back sooner. and it will work on any agent.
Critical fails I seen caused the incap agents time to increase. Also it recorded on your stats page. Quest completed = 953 Crit success =172 Success = 781 Failure = 14 Crit Failure = 2 Their may be more to them but sample size is not big enough to know. maybe after I had more then 10 I can let you know.
I've also noticed that the shorter duration incapacities tend to have a higher chance. The longer duration ones like 48+ hours tend to have a lower chance. But like Mazame said, the higher the quest and also if it's a rare or elite task, the chance's all go up the higher you get.
Thanks. I'm slowly filling in info as I learn the system. I'll correct this. The Quest Detail table I made is for Level 1 Common quests as stated in the table. Right now the data I'm gathering for this table is for Common, Uncommon, and Uncommon Iconic agents. However so far for Level 1 Common quests, from the data I've gathered, it doesn't matter what level your agent is or what their skill level is for the slots because the quests will cap out the success percentage regardless. Only the bonuses will take you above that cap. Thanks, I've got more work to do on this. Anyone with an account on the site can edit the wiki as well so if anyone has more info, feel free to add.
It would be nice if we could avoid to have 2 x the same agent. As you can only use one at once. The other same agent is basically useless and you need to wait to have enough other agents to convert it or you are forced to transform it in 2 lesser ranked agents.
I disagree Job type dose matter and Job level matters. Example Level 1 common research ( this was the common level 1 quest I had open to me) Quest name = How was the cauldron Made? Success = 69% ! = Scholar (1) Bonuses = Dwarf With a level 1 = 81% With a level 2 = 83% with a level 3 = 84% With a level 4 = 85% with a level 5 = 86 % Level 1 Dwarf = 86% Now because it an ! it has to be a scholar and the only scholar dwarfs I have are level 1. So I can pick the Dwarf level 1 or the level 5 non dwarf and get to 86% As for the ? on the same quest it is a Soldier Bonus = Bold. Level 1 = +5% Level 2 = +5% Level 3 = +5% Level 4 = +6% Level 5 = +6% Level 1 & Bold = +8% Level 4 & Bold = +10% Level 5 & Bold = +11% Unmatched Job & bold = +3% So if you don't have the matching job for the ? then you can still send a bold agent to get 3% the level / rarity of the bold agent doesn't change the %. So if your matching a trait only on this quest it 3% Matching just the job for level 1-3 you get 5% and level 4-5 give 6% So one may think that matching Job and trait you would get 8% for level 1-3 and that is show to be true. However on level 4 and 5 it is not. Level 4 you get the 6% (job) and 3% (trait) would be 9% yet when picked it 10% that was given. Level 5 you get 6% (job) and 3% (trait) again would be 9% but was given 11%. So the to my best guess the % add is not a flat % but more like 6.XXXX% and so when combine can push it up to the next % either way what it does show is that it not capped like you suggested. Job Level does matter It matter more on the ! but even on the ? it still changes. Will post a 2nd example below cause the numbers change
Yes merc xp can be gained with overseer. but it is still SLOW However Merc grinding xp +Merc overseer XP is better then Just grinding merc XP so it will speed it up. How ever the speed up it gives it debatable if it worth the effort.
2nd Example of level 1 Quest Quest name "Copy Cat" Base is 69% ! = Scholar with bonus = Extravagant Level 1 = 81% with bonus = 86% Level 2 = 83% with bonus = 87% Level 3 = 84% with bonus = 89% Level 4 = 85% Level 5 = 86% with bonus = 92% Again the ! must be a scholar so the with bonus is match the Job and the bonus where the level is just matching the job. As for the ? the Job is Artisan and Bonus is Benevolent Level 1 = +5% With bonus = +8% Level 2 = +6% With bonus = +9% Level 3 = +6% with bonus = +10% Level 4 = +6% With bonus = +11% Level 5 = +7% Bonus only = +3% Now when I take the agent that gave me 92% and combine with the agent that gave me 7% I only got 98% not 99%. Again what this tells me is the % are not whole number but rather X.XXX% and then rounded up or down when displaying the Success % by mixing and matching agents Job level and bonus traits I am able to get to 100% on this quest where the other level 1 quest I showed I was only able to get to 97% What my take away from all of the is that each quest has different % that gained when adding agents it not a flat X% more so it varies from quest to quest. Not just level to level as both of these were level 1 quest. What matter if you want to do well is you need to have as many agents as you can so that you have the freedom to find what works best for each quest. Job level Matters but a lower job level with the right bonus can be better based on the quest.
Great post Mazame. I would love to get your take on critical successes odds vs quest duration. I lost the data I had but it suggested that 6 hr = 25% vs 12 hr = 50% chance of critical success when both where 91%+ success rates. That was with level 1 and 2 tasks.
