Citrix/VPN connections are slow compared to being on site. Your laptops are generally much slower than your office workstations. Collaboration between team members is harder remotely than in person. This also assumes your place of work already had in place everything required to telework.

That’s before you get to the fact children are at home instead of school and all the other life distractions that normally would not take place at the work place. Productivity will go down overall. It’s not just some switch you flip and go “well you have a laptop”. Anyone who thinks that doesn’t actually work in computing industries.

There are very good reasons places like IBM called all their employees back to the office, while google and others have never allowed a heavy telework culture. Collaboration required human contact and most these projects are team based, not individual.
