Any Agnarr Changes?

This may be beating a dead horse, are there any plans to make any adjustments to Agnarr considering its in PoP/LDoN for years now?

    Things I consider
    - Mitigation of the Mighty , is it really necessary anymore?
    - True box.... again, people wanna pay for premium subs, why limit it on an aged server?
    - Daybreak Store cosmetic items , Why only a select few, none of these were " in era" but only get a handful compared to other servers. Seems easy to let people spend money
    - Fabled events, technically not in-era, but maybe do Classic/Kunark?

Just really wanting to add newness and longevity to the server without doing anything crazy. The same guilds clear the same content with relative easy forever now , it won't change the outcome but perhaps more fun in the process.

Or, hey, OoW locked would be fun....

Re-introduce Rogue assassinate/ anatomy for PoP.

100% complete silliness that a Ranger gets Headshot and a Rogue doesn't get Assassinate.

I think removing truebox from mature servers is a good idea. The constant release of tlp after tlp just bleeds past servers dry.

Just like "old" eq, boxing became the normal as populations dried up and new games siphoned off the playerbase. Now it's just the playerbase being swooped up by the newest server.

Removing truebox simply lets people survive a little easier or prevent them from quitting altogether.

Many have suggested removing the Truebox once Mercs are available on a TLP, I know Agnarr is in a different position though.

I personally think the best fix for Agnarr might be to make it a F2P server at this point rather than removing truebox. And if it has AoC to make those only accessible for All-Access players.

The entire point of the server was to not have any newness past the lock point. If you want newness and longevity, you have a whole lot of servers that give you all those things you asked for.

I agree that some changes could really improve the server's appeal. Artificial barriers that no longer serve a purpose and low value for the price of a sub are two major drawbacks for Agnarr that could easily be fixed. On a progressing TLP there is some justification to require a sub, but how many games out there charge monthly for a game with no active development? (Getting lumped in with the patches going to other servers doesn't count)

I'd be happy to play casually and contribute to the server but I can't justify multiple subs for so few hours. I've posted this before but these are some things that I think would benefit Agnarr long term by making content more available without changing or adding anything significant (in no particular order).
    1. Make Agnarr Free-to-Play. It could be promoted as a free and casual intro to classic TLPs. Maybe allow transfers to other TLPs once they unlock OoW (or whenever). I'd even be willing to pay a one-time cash shop purchase equivalent to a new expansion to permanently unlock Agnarr access without requiring a sub (basically like buying a typical online game).
    2. Add the good store mounts back in to recoup some of the sub money. Flag them as 12 (or however many) months after LDoN unlocks if needed to work with other servers. The Bazaar horses are garbage compared to the store wolves so there is incentive to continue to buy them on alts.
    3. Remove truebox so that boxing isn’t such a physical hassle that requires so much hardware.
    4. Remove Sol Ro and Vex Thal keys at 65. Or better yet, make them flag by account rather than character.
    5. Remove MOTM. This has really run its course on this server.
    6. Bring back the limited time pre-nerf items (Guise, Fungus Staff, Circlet of Shadow, maybe even Mana Stone?) in some form (e.g. ultra-rare drop, seasonal drop, casino, etc.).
    7. Add in a separate AoC for pre-awoken Sleeper with all the pre-wake drop tables.

They are pretty dead set against making big ruleset changes to existing TLP servers.

Once again, every single thing on this list (excepting #7) is out there and available if you just choose to play on different servers. The entire point of Agnarr was to never have any of these things.

What server is locked at the content that the majority of TLP players enjoy with all these that you speak of?
  10. Madroc Journeyman

I understand the argument against "newness" however since agnarr's inception and even since its permanent lock into current PoP there have been numerous changes that had impact on the server which if we kept the same principle, shouldn't have happened. Examples being random changes/patches, features such as consider systems, AA consolidation etc.

Everyone knew what they signed up for with Agnarr, however it doesn't mean innovation or even change due to server life/longevity can't occur. Things like daybreak store items being present then removed or absolute absence of them when they have zero impact on things are a great example.

Making Agnarr FTP accessible given they purchase an unlocked in the marketplace is a very cool idea.

As with every server once it reaches a certain age I think Truebox can be killed. SoD and mercenaries is a logical marker but for a content locked server I can see just wanting it removed after a certain age.

Personally if the above two were done I’d probably buy the unlocker on a few free accounts and box a full group over there casually, given the price on the unlocker wasn’t absurd.

That's just simply not true. If the entire point was to not have anything new past PoP then please explain:
    • AOCs
    • pick zones
    • cash shop
    • MOTM
    • Augments
    • LoY
    • LDoN
Even one of the things others have mentioned, the wolf mounts, *WERE* available on Agnarr before but no longer are. So you can't say the entire point of the server was to not have something that the server had.

There are plenty of QoL changes that were applied to this server. People asking for more QoL changes does not violate the entire point of the server.

That item will NEVER come back. Also its nearly useless after it was nerfed so deeply prior to be removed.

If the majority of TLP players enjoy that content, why did they leave when a new server opened up starting in classic?

It was not meant to be an "Original PoP" experience. It was meant to be "PoP Era Progression" experience. They outlined their intentions pretty clearly in the Agnarr FAQ on release in May of 2017. You can read it here: https://www.everquest.com/news/agnarr-progression-server-faq-may-2017

With that being said changes still should be made to dead servers in general. Agnarr included. I don't see the point in letting so many servers die only to create new ones. It invalidates playing the game to begin with. Creating new classic servers over and over isn't the only way to make money. It also gets less interesting every time a new one is made. Darkpaw or whatever they are called now could be a lot more creative.

    - Whatever happened to silver membership? Couldn't something creative be done with that? Easy $$
    - Why aren't account transfers back yet? Easy $$$
    - Bring back the wolf mounts with stats! I am sure other things could be implemented as well. Easy $$$
    - Why not transfer between progression servers? Sure there must be some type of restriction on this but after years of progression servers I don't see why things like this aren't at least being looked into. I don't want to go into too much detail so my post is brief but there are plenty of ways to keep this fair while also being engaging for the players and profitable for Darkpaw.

Just some general ideas. Would suck to see more boring re-releases of progression servers while legacy servers servers simply die due to lack of innovation. I am not against new servers, I just don't think they are very creative at all with how they create engaging content for the community.

Because they already did it and wanted to start over. Come on, this isn't even that hard to understand. What content do you think the majority of TLP players enjoy? TTS? Underfoot? Empires of Kunark?
  17. feigntrain Elder

Yes, I know it's not true. That was my point.

I quoted the wrong person. Took it out already :)
