I am trying to figure out if i should be dual wielding or using a 2h weapon as a ranger. Back when I played some 15 years ago I Dual wielded but a couple guides I have found have newbies using a 2h like Silver Swiftblade.
Bow But really - what ever kills them fastest and keep all the 2h and 1h skilled up to max level. I have found it depends on the mob, group, pulling, off tanking etc.
I'm too lazy to keep up 1HS, Archery, and 2H(anything) myself. You want to switch to 2H when the MOB has a killer riposte, damage shield up, or both. It is also kind of desirable to have an Ogre or Troll if interrupting/stun is important since they don't need a shield for that. Something like a Human Ranger, not so much since what you gain in not getting kicked or burned, you lose when you lose your ability to Bash. I've never had someone in a group suggest switching from dual wield to shield with stun so I make it a wash at best.
