They measure this by beating content first on their server when it unlocks
They re-arrange their real live schedules to go all in on their hobby
It is important to them, and they do get an adrenaline rush during it

Anyone not invested in the race won't have any of the same feelings... And it will just look dumb to them, as it is not important to them... (Basically how I feel about all professional sports)

There's skill involved, but it's not traditional twitch skills as in most modern games. It's more about organizing and cat herding and general knowledge of how the game works. How is enjoying racing in EQ any worse than lots of other pointless hobbies people have?

Its been done so many times already, they just won something thats been done so many times before.

To each their own, some people enjoy the race whenever its possible, no its not hard content, but there is still a level of skill and knowledge necessary to be first.

The main thing to "Racing" these days is organization and planning. It Takes skills in those 2 things to get an entire guild to funnel to a pre-set 40 people only. Assign groups to every shard to funnel to those 40, all gear to those 40 etc. It's a lot of babysitting and keeping people focused, not to mention inevitable drama from people who feel "left out".

It gets even more so later, as you have to plan flags, splits etc if you are trying to beat some timer(like fastest to kill final boss in X expansion).

If you don't care about any of that stuff, just sit back, take your time don't make it into a job or stressful and go about your own business.

Amtrak has gotten every OW vt mob but maybe 2 thalls. And has probably a dozen or more full VT clears over the other guilds. Theres not really anyone even remotely close to them in gear.

TLDR; Faceless lost the race by several days, and apparently had trouble with members falling asleep or not logging in during the race itself.

The selos race site says most of it tbh.
