I have an HP notebook similar to one I rented wit the same specs, this one I won in a drawing for renting the old one. I did end up getting an alienware shortly after for Christmas, but I am gonna be on the go for a while living in motels. The problem I have is this one with the same specs as the one that worked will not let me play on live servers, any servers with further than velious unlocked, and crashes in any revamped zones which stops me from going anywhere important in coirnav at the moment. DXdiag stats to follow below.

The first thing I saw was your direct x appears to be 12 and I think you need older 9C that is not included in that newer version. More info in this post: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq...ide-of-getting-to-launch.248543/#post-3655818
For eq to run you have to install dx9c, what version of dx you computer shows in dxdiag is irrelevant. Mine shows v 12 but I know I've installed dx9c and so it runs eq just fine.
Direct X is confusing, while DX10+ are supposed to handle earlier versions of DX, they do so be emulation. However, the earlier version of DX libraries are needed. you will want the June 2010 Direct X 9c redistributable file (around 96mb) from MS. this will likely solve your issues, but it could end up being something else. if so, dont hesitate to post again as there are numerous people here adept at solving EQ related probs. On a separate note, your video (GPU) is an onboard. which is fine, but does mean it shares memory with your system. I would suggest you look into getting your RAM up to 8gb, that leaves RAM for Windows and RAM for textures and other GPU related need. @ 4gb RAM your system only has 3.5gb available and this is while not running any 3D games, which will and is limiting performance, just a suggestion in time. Hope the DX redist solves your problem =)
Hi, you could check your eqclient file, make sure all CPUAffinity's are set to 1: CPUAffinity0 = 1, CPUAffinity1 = 1 etc Also check you have your laptop power sent to High performance. I had to do both of those to get EQ to run properly, though normally just poor performance across all zones rather than crashing post velious! Have you tried re-downloading EQ? might it be corrupted files? if it works on your Alienware could you copy the EQ files over as you know that's a working copy?
When you say specifically that you're crashing beyond Velious, has this directory also been used to play on P99?
All OS XP-Vista Win7-8-8.1-10 do come with a base version of DX9 but they do not include several years of updated/added modules. June 2010, version 9.29.1974 is the last Dx9c update. Using an older update version does NOT update itself. It was only a few years ago that SOE/DBG required modules that were part of the June 2010 directx 9c. Download, unpack to an easy accessible location then run the dxsetup.exe. Keep the folder for future troubleshooting purposes. The redistribution package will install missing dx9c files as well as replace corrupted ones, as it replaces all of those files. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 Also, delete or rename your eqclient.ini, especially if it was copied over from another installation. After that, make sure your CPU/GPU drivers are up-to-date. The ones listed are showing to be 2 years old but do the directx 9c update first.
No I don't play P99 and re-read. I can't load into the game at all on a server pas vel. On revamped zones in servers vel and below I crash when I enter a revamped zone like north ro or commonlands.
Well, sorry that did not get the job done. What exact model is your HP? have you tried running EQ in compatibility mode? ie win 7 or 8? and is EQ being run as admin? where is your EQ directory? i have to move my EQ from C\users... to just C:\Everquest, because the client would crash (this was just before the founders update, and i continue to run from C:\Everquest). your DX diag log is great but it would seem there is something else that needs addressing. what does your everquest crash log show? and Windows Logs?
That's exactly why I asked about P99, since P99 has different data sets that conflict with an existing EQ directory.
First thing I did was set the game to run as admin before I launched it the first time. this is a years long habbit with games since win 7, I tried compatability mode before ever posting and after the 9.0c install. Maybe a little more info on the issues loading into a server past vel. I can get into character select just fine, after hitting play it goes to loading screen and just hangs there and never gets in.
there should be an EQ crash report, and a windows log for application error... those hold the information needed. otherwise there is no way on determining if there is an issue with mapping in RAM, a corrupted file, windows resource error or any number of other potentials. at this point there is not enough info to determine if your issue is software or hardware, and the Logs and crash report shed light on what to do next. also the exact model of your HP is helpful. also as stated by others, your display driver is quite old, and should be updated as well. again, without logs and the crash report, we cannot determine if this is a hardware or software issue. DX9c and Drivers are simple and "1st thing to try". since other info like admin, running elevated and compatibility were not stated, in trying to help have to ask. the process of elimination continues...
When you downloaded and ran directx 9c, was it the June 2010 version? IS EQ on the system a fresh installed or was it copied from another computer? Check your firewall settings/logs to see if ports are being blocked.
Only June 2010 redistrib provides all files/libraries, and DXWEBSETUP and earlier DX addendum will not provide all/latest (last) 9c. although i dont hink blocked ports are the issue as he/she did say "when zoning into re-vamped..." which indicates he can logon and into, but only certain zones are the issue, which is why i said the crash report and win logs would help. an corrupted egg or zon file can cause this as well as missing DX API libraries.
In your everquest/logs directory there is a dbg.txt file, open it up and copy and paste about the last 50 lines of that file into a post here.
