Question on rangers for returning player.

When I stopped playing rangers were only used as ranged dps, no melee, wasnt viable at all.
Are they melee, now? I have read some websites saying yes, but I just want a confirmation, incase they dont know what theyre talking about. I left like 10 years ago.

Still reign at ranged dps, close qtr combat is viable and still good but not nearly as well.

Classic through Velious is predominately melee. Luclin and PoP are predominately ranged once you get EQ/AM.

Well, no. Melee was king for rangers back in 2015.

This last (current) expansion featured an 'archery renaissance' of sorts.

Ranger melee dps has been best, outside the duration of Trueshot Discipline, from 1999 through 2016. This comes up over and over, but not until virtual yesterday were rangers "archers"

Outside of trueshot, melee was as good or better for rangers except during pop (before time). That was because rangers got high powered bows that were better than relevant melee weapons (elemental bows in tier 1 zones, ect).
