Hiya, So out of the clear blue, Norton popped up with this security risk: SONAR.Heuristic.120 as part of the wws_crashreport_uploader.exe file used to send in crash reports. The aforementioned threat appeared after a zone-related crash and lead to the read out below: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2014-011016-0119-99&tabid=2 Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Send them the readout, ask for feedback as its a company you've been dealing with for a while now and this is a new thing ?
Unless the wws_crashreport_uploader.exe file itself is infected with something, the warning is just a heuristic detection. The crash reporter does some things that are also done by bad programs, I'd guess getting a memory dump from the everquest.exe process and sending that info to a remote server. False positives are annoying for users, and they condition users to ignore or bypass security warnings. But spitting them out means the antivirus software is doing something!
