For the last few years. I've played on a Windows 7 (64 bit) box with an ATI RADEON HD 5700 Series graphics adapter in 1920x1080 (32-bit) 60Hz resolution. No problem.

Just purchased a brand new machine. Moved my EQ directories over.

New machine's desktop is running an AMD Radeon R9 270 in 1920x1080 (32-bit) 60Hz resolution. (dxdiag output below)

Seems that EQ does not recognize the higher densities supported by the card, all of my old windows are HUGE and when I try to change to a higher resolution, EQ no longer offers 1920 x 1080.

Why and is there a trick?

Here is the relevant dxdiag output.

    Should mention: same monitors.
  4. Behee Augur

As a rule of thumb whenever I do a major upgrade (and definitely if moving to a new computer), I move the existing ini files into a separate folder, which forces the EQ engine to re-examine the hardware. This creates new ini files which may have less obsolete information in them or items which should be set differently.

After that I move back the ini files, telling it not to replace any ini files that are newer (the ones EQ just created). That merges older ini files back and the new ones, giving the new ini files priority.
  5. Klonn New Member

Did exactly that. AND ran Game options from the patcher (misidentifies the card).
  6. Sarkaukar Augur

First, delete eqhardware.ini that may be in the folder.

Did you use the Game Configuration that is in the Launchpad (Advanced tools)? If so, that is the error. The resolutions are static resolutions based on avail resolutions at the time that tool was created. It does not read the resolutions available to both card and monitor.

Also, if it may identify the Intel GPU on the CPU if the AMD/Nvidia cards are not set to Primary in Bios.

Now, whether or not which card it shows in the Alt O, Display window/Advanced Button is a different beast. If, in bios, you have not selected the AMD/ATI card as the primary GPU, then it defaults to the Intel GPU that is on the Intel CPU. AFAIK, it should not matter.

Alt O, Display Tab, Video mode button to set resolution. Everything is large due to the default 800x600 or 1024x768 game res and you are likely running the game in Full Screen mode (alt Enter or hit the Windowed Screen/Full Screen button).
