Old raid mobs with long respawn timers.

I think that list I posted is every mob that needs to be changed. Now if there are others pre POP that should also be adjusted then we can add too it. I really think this can be done in a simple patch and an intern could do it in a couple days... maybe even 1 day. It would be sweet for the anniversary we could see these mobs open up to a spawn time that is reasobale and within 2-6 hours....

Well with all the new changes and patches they are going to start. Maybe we can get them to look into spawn times that we have discussed. I still think it would be nice to get someone to officially discuss with us what can be done. Ide love to know their input on this subject.

I posted this in the other thread that got locked due to some nonsense and I'll post it again here:

Allow older static zones to be instanced. Set the timers on the nameds to pop on zone creation. Allow old static zones to be instanced every 3 days per account as to not hit the servers too hard.

I would rather not have older static zones altered in any way for historical reasons. When a zone is revamped, obviously all bets are off. But there are those of us that want to experience these older zones in their original form, timers and all.

Allow instancing for those that are at a road block or want to get their drop quick, leave the static zone available for those that want to do it the old fashioned way.

Its a good idea.. but what most fear is the time needed to create such a system. The coding needed would take away from development of new content. That is the argument against it.. Increasing spawn times appears to be something that could be done by an intern in a single day... with no time being taken away from dev's. Hence why I push for it.

Most of the people who complain about these mobs being "perma-camped" don't actually bother to check for them being up all that often. I randomly check if mobs are up. Sometimes I will get on a roll and find them up; other times I will luck out and they won't be up. When I do find them up I'll kill them and make a note of the time and try back in 3-7 days to try and catch the next spawn.

The people who are whining about not having Epic pieces. With few exceptions those drops can be multi-quested, so if you actually ask around you can get it easily enough from someone who is camping the mob for whatever non-Epic Quest pieces it drops.

Well Fabled mobs are coming back soon. This is something I am really looking forward to.

If it's like past year; the spawn time will be reduced.

And unlike past years; I have toons that kill some of these =)

I will be perma camping a few of these for those must have Monk items, lol

Personally, I say just leave them all alone and people can deal with it, by actually making a lot more of an effort to try to find the mobs up. But if the respawn times are going to be changed then I say, do the following:
    • Respawn times which are 12 hours or less leave them alone.
    • Respawn times which are greater than 12 hours but less than or equal to 24 hours reduce them by 6-12 hours taking into account any respawn variances, so as to avoid any boundary issues.
    • Respawns greater than 1 day with a respawn variance, cut the respawn time down such that the earliest the mob will respawn is no less than 12 hours after it has been killed and no more than 1/2 the original high end of the respawn time.
    • Respawns greater than 1 day with no variation reduce the spawn times by at least 1/2, but no more than 2/3 of its original respawn time.

With the exception of AoW/Tormax, I see old rares up all the time. Maybe it's just my server but I still find it hard to believe people actually waste the time to permacamp these mobs. AoNs and BoCs don't really sell that well - defiant and station and LoN killed most of those markets. Cobalt and Tolan's sell rarely and not for that much either. I haven't heard of people selling epic drops for years. I them all the time and most people throw me a little plat for my trouble. Many of the epic drops have workarounds already (VS, Trak, dragon scales). Ironically the drops most are looking for aren't off rares, they're just a pain (SEoC, SSoC, mage crown).

Im on Xegony.... I never can find anything up...... Everything on that list I posted seems to stay dead... Only a few times have I caught something up

When I want to find some old rare mobs, I bind as close as I can to where they spawn (admittedly easier on a caster, especially a wizard or druid) and check the spawn when I log in and camp out and I've never had a problem finding anything I needed. Might not have been right away or the first time I looked but eventually I've always gotten the mob I wanted to see.

I'm sorry, I'd rather have them code a correct solution than cheapen the game even worse. We've waited this long, why not wait another 6 months or put it in the next expansion? Its not that it makes the game any easier, but adjusting spawn timers to something ridiculous does take away from the game. Especially, if there are those that still want to experience encounters they way they were designed. I am a zone purist. I personally want the original PoM reinstated, complete with all of its bugs and broken quests.

Whenever I check VT, its entirely down. I suppose it depends on the server.

One day I found a few up and started clearing towards the first encounters. Within 30 minutes I saw a group log into the zone, kill a couple of them and log out. People log out their groups right at the encounters and kill just what they need. The zone is essentially locked down unless you log a group out at the encounters as well. This is the issue. The only true way to fix this is to either remove the drops from the raid mobs (or put them in the casino, etc) that everybody wants or instance the zones.

Or just increase spawn times so that they get what they want and leave..... Why make it harder for the devs... just increase spawn times... it doesnt cheapen the game. It allows everyone the chance to enjoy the game more,

The amount of time spent in this thread by some people is probably triple the time that would have been needed just camp what they wanted.

I do this at work.... if I could play everquest this much I probally would be level 100 and have a little bit larger chance to get to mobs before the Xegony Army of Permacampers take them down.. But I Dont actually have that much time to play so even if I log in 1 hour a day every day... the chance of finding what I want up... Is slim to none.

I agree with Tharrg, he is correct in that it would take too much time to implement the changes of an instance zone or flagging items as no drop or creating spawnable NPC's. The way to correct the issue should be to change spawn times. I also like that List I do not think that I have seen a couple of those Mobs in a long time and I checked last night and every one of them was down. I went into a few zones for progression and all of them were dead as well. I think the problem would be fixed if we adjusted the spawn times to 2-6 hours max for those on the list. ----great ideas here but I think the adjusting spawn times is more likely to be done as it requires the least amount of work.

What's funny is that adjusting the spawn timers will change nothing. If these zones are locked down, then will stay that way regardless of the respawn timers are 7 days or 1 hour. All you all are doing is giving the people who are locking them down even more chances to kill the mobs.

But I agree with others. Right now the mobs are locked down and the zones are locked down by permacampers that have the mobs spawn time locked in. If you reduce the spawn times on these mobs these permacampers will be unable to sit and kill these creatures 24/7 yes.. I may have to wait to get a kill here and there but I will get a chance that right now I would not have. These mobs appear to be being used as a way to make Plat by the items they drop.. or being killed because of boredom. I think that once these mobs begin to spawn faster the appeal to keep killing them will drop and people like me and Tharrg and others will get our chance.

Right now the lockdown time requires a 5 minute investment from the player keeping it locked down. If it's more common, they have to sit around in that zone much more often, freeing up other targets.

Tharrg an hour a day so max 7 hours a week and spawns should change to suite you?
I am sorry but some items are not meant for everyone without a little more effort than 7 hours a week, I fear what you would have done even two expansions after the mobs discussed in this thread were relevant.

Realistically you could do as suggested and set up a low level toon to check on spawns or upon login check the spawns you want if not up then do your thing. I have done this back when I wanted to solo AoW, it did not take but 10 minutes to see if it was up, if it was not I simply went about my day. Took me 6 months of checking to get my shot at that spawn.

Ishtass; ok no one multi boxes these days, does not matter how frequent the respawns are it will only take 5 minutes of effort to kill once they are up same as it does now.

My goodness wont this thread die? its going to continue until this subject is up for its 6 month revival.
