Considering a Rogue.

Still on the journey to decide what I want to reroll as on a new server where my sister resides. She currently has a 99 Paladin that's running out of options. For the most part she's just been killing easy stuff in Shard's Landing lately, but if I join her as a partner we could hopefully do much more.

Just wondering, assuming two mercenaries to come with us, would a Rogue/Paladin duo work?

A Rogue + Paladin + 2 mercs would work fine for most things.

Rogue is an excellent choice to pair with paladin. Rogue DPS will offset Paladin's lack thereof. And they bring some utility. Pulling (via smokescreen), slowing (via poisons), scouting around corners (via SoS). and if you are still considering a Bard, you could add one as a separate free-to-play box to drag around for the songs.
