Console > PC?

Does a high end gamer truly benifit more than a budget to mid tier gamer? Depends, are you the person who wants to run everything on max settings? Or are you the guy who only wants to play games with decent to pretty good visuals? I am the latter.

My pc is a budget system from 2011. The only game I have issues with is Ark Survival Evolved, which is poorly optimized. High end gamers have me here, but playing a poorly optimized game is not the norm. I play many mmo and experience very minimal hiccups if any. I seriously can play any title new and old in my mmo library with no issues or adjusted settings.

Now this had me wondering what is the point of high end gaming only to be a perfectionist? The new Xbox may resemble a mid tier system. So I can get this for $500 bucks? My budget pc costed nearly $700. Consoles will soon be the go to place for mmo in my opinion. PC gamers are the minority in Dcu, imagine what the high end gamer numbers look like.

Ordered a PS4, I am officially back to being a console gamer. The last system I owned was a 360 when it was new, long time since I main a console. PC gaming no longer looks feasible with the new Xbox on the horizon. There will always be pc fanboys throwing around specs and reasons why pc are superior, I was one of those people, but the objective is to play visually appealing titles which are fun to play. Gamers do not need a $1500-$2000 rig to do that. The casual gamer is not a perfectionist.

As a PS4 player myself, I really hate how the game goes through PSN. I wish I started playing this game on PC just so my account could be tied to DBG instead of my PSN account. I'm now at the stage where I don't want my PSN anymore but I can't stop playing it because all of my DCUO progress is attached to it. I feel it'll be a problem with all MMOs on console. Of course it's not a problem for everyone, but yeah, it is for me.

You have to pay for the online services on consoles (X-Box Live & PSN) also the games are cheaper on PC.
I went to PC, and has been the best gaming decision ever.
    Consoles better than PC......

You don't have to pay for games like DCUO though.

Can you elaborate on your trouble with the PSN bit? You do know that you do not need PS+ (Sony's subscription) to play DCUO, STO, Neverwinter and some other MMOs? DCUO was actually quite some time the only online game on PS4 that worked without the PS+ (which is not the same as PSN).

Totally depends on what you play. I have 2 PCs gaming ready with i7 cores etc. and 2 (working) PS4s as well as a couple of PS3s around here. For STO, DCUO etc I prefer the console. The PCs are for absolut high end gaming like Star Citizen (whenever their release is "complete"). If my PS4 crashes (one killed PS4 standing next room, waiting for a new casing) to the point of "no return", I get my last backup, a new console and am ready to go the next day. The PCs I use cannot be replaced in less than a week, mostly more. So for gaming, the console is my top choice, even if that means worse graphical details. Better graphics do not make a better gameplay anyway.

With a PC, it is relatively easier to upgrade (just change out a few parts), but with a console, you have to buy an entire new machine (once they actually release it), which is where the problem with the game and PS3 comes into it: the graphics and engine and everything else was hunky-dory when it was developed, way back in 2008 or so, but, times have changed, things have evolved, PC's have been boosted, but PS3 hasn't, it was replaced with the PS4 but so many PS3ers don't want to pay again for basically the same machine, with just better everything, but that is what PCers did

I'm aware of that. I literally said that in the post above your one. I just don't like having all my DCUO stuff tied to a PSN account. With it being an MMO and how much time I've invested solely into the game, I just wish it was tied to its own account. I know it might not make much sense but yeah lol

I'm thinking about getting a game PC. I never thought I would but why not. I come from a era where you buy a game it's yours and you actually beat it.
Paying for a game that not yours was look down upon in early days of gamming, it was the main reason to stick to consoles. But time have changed.

Both Xbox and Ps are charging players to play AAA title games online which I still have not done to this day. It the main reason why I play DCUO and warframe online.

Looking from outside in, I think console players are being taken advantage of since we're new to online gaming. I think my love for games period has gone down hill.
You buy a game and they want more money from you take away my joy of video games as a whole

Most of the games on that platform require Playstation Plus. If you are gonna play only DCUO or "those" game that doesn´t require it, then good for you. Otherwise i think it´s a waste of money, when u can play online without those kind of limitations or monthly fees on PC.

A new console costs less than upgrading your pc every few months (if you want high end for the new games). Consoles come out about every 8 years. New games with higher specs come out every few months. Keeps me a console player. Plus like previously stated, better graphics does not equal better gameplay.

TBH I have no need for a PC anymore. Everything I do in business can and is done on tablets or smartphones.
For me it's just more practical to run a console

Then... why such a big fuss and palaver about not upgrading the PS3 to a PS4? o_O
  13. Wade Spalding Loyal Player

Well, feel free to try it without sense :D In a way, it is tied to its own account. If you get banned in DCUO, you just lose the DCUO stuff on your PSN, and you can keep the trophies even. If you get banned on PC in DCUO, your stuff is gone the same way. The only thing different is if you got banned from the PSN. So basically: behave in other games and you're safe. But you already said you don't play other games (anymore) so there is nothing to fear either :D

And besides: there is always the chance that Daybreak sinks the game with the revamp, in which case you wouldn't have to worry anymore from any point of view :D

Because that doesn't need to be that simple for all players. I can sink a couple of "100 bucks" (calculated in U$ or €) a month into gaming, and some others may not have that much at hand for their groceries even. Which doesn't mean that they don't sink 20-50 bucks into the game per month on their PS3 (because addicted gamers often don't have it with "rational decisions").

Maybe it even boils down to "I saved a lot of money for my PS4 but then Daybreak released a new set of TCs and I had to open 200 of them on day 1" in some/more cases. It's basically the same argument that comes from the "Yay! Online Casino TCs!!"-crowd: "It's my money and you shouldn't bother how I spend it!" The "Yay! TCs!"-crowd hurts the game in the perspective of other players with spending their money on them because Daybreak reacts to their money and stops developing other content for the marketplace. The "I don't spend my money on a PS4"-crowd hurts the game in the perspective of other players because Daybreak reacts to the money spend from the PS3 and does not develop a huge graphical update (which IMO would not do any good to the game either, it will stay the same boring crap, no matter if the pictures come in 4K or 720p resolution).

Funny how people think they can decide how others have to spend their money in one point and then are totally angry when people tell them how to spend their money in another point :D But 90% of MMO players are hypocrites anyway :D

Speaking for myself, I cannot play with a keyboard and mouse. Give me a wireless controller damn it!

And for sure I could get a windows one that plays nicely with windows, or an adaptor for the PS controller....then I need to find a PC that fits nicely in the space occupied by the PS4.

And troubleshoot any hardware issues that may arise...keep the keyboard handy to log on and start whatever game I want to play.

Or I could just take the easy way out, and get a console. Keeping the laptop handy for those times I need / want to play remotely (curse whoever killed Play Mira and the like).

And then, just to keep my sanity....just stay the hell away from PC > PS4 > PS3 > PC arguments. Each to their own.

Anyway, I much prefer bacon and redheads. Although if one were to force me to chose, I'd take the redheads over the bacon. Obviously. I'm not a complete philistine.
