PVP Question

Hello All, I have been playing on and off for 3 years now. I am 99 CR for PVP.

I noticed lately that when I fight in an arena with a player that is wearing no PVP gear at all they do a lot of damage and take hardly no damage.

When I play against a player that is actual wearing PVP gear and they are 99 or 100 CR for PVP the match is a lot more closely matched.

how can this be? What is the point of grinding for PVP gear when people with a no PVP gear on can kick my ***.

Please explain.

Your stats are buffed up to a minimum for PvP when entering an instance. This should help you out:

“Level has nothing to do with your power costs. It is all about your PvP CR. Level 10 will be boosted to same minimal stats as level 30 with no PvP gear would. So as level 10 you have CR 96 power costs.
But you have a point, having no gear has its advantage over CR 100 when it comes to power costs.
Im too lazy to throw together power cost chart...and my file is somewhat outdated, but if you are interested in some kind a idea how power costs scale according to PvP CR, you can check my "Healers Handbook" down in my signature. Just change CR under Calculator Tab and see how power costs scale for healer.

There is tiny bit of truth here. Yes, you stats are not exactly CR 96. But no, they are not CR 99.
Actual system is somewhat wonky.
Every stat has its own minimum amount and maximum amount and it is affected by your role.
In PvP, if you have no gear, you are automatically boosted to CR 96 stats. Now if certain stats are still below the minimum, then those stats will get additional boost.
As an example im going to show you scaling from healer point of view.
As a healer your dominance is always boosted to 1646. So even at CR 100, fully modded, i will get boost to dominance, because i have not hit the minimum amount yet (as you can see, +711).
Restoration is fixed at 5335 as minimum. So as CR 97 i still have not reached the cap. So even though i received all kinds of stat boosts compared to CR 96 (PvE gear), like extra Toughness, Vit, Might and Power, i still will not receive any boost in restoration. My restoration is still the same as it would be in CR 96 (5335), as i have not reached the minimum amount yet.
Precision on CR 97 is almost at its minimum limit (minimum limit is 1270 while my gear provides 1268), so couple of first pieces of CR 98 would already start boosting that stat as well.

Now those boosts do not ignore stat increases from mods nor skillpoints. So if you are in full PvE gear and have 200+ skillpoints and start going for those 30 point restorations...then first you have to reach 5335 (thats a lot of skill points)...and after you reach the minimum, then you will see actual additional boost. Until you reach the cap, every skill points spent towards restoration will becompletely useless, as you would automatically be boosted to the same number anyways.
That's why getting dominance for healer in PvP is useless, as even though it increases your healing same way as restoration, you will just waste your time trying to reach the minimum amount...having 0 dominance is the same as having 1200 dominance, as it would be boosted to minimum of 1646.

So yes, you might see stat increases on certain stats even in higher CRs depending on how you mod and how you spend your skill points.
No, you will not be boosted to CR 99.
Getting CR 100 over sitting on PvE gear is still worth it, as you gain extra stats towards reaching the minimum stat limits. That means you need less stats from your mods/skill points to actually pass the minimum limit and start getting some actual boost.
Also, if you check the difference between PvE gear toughness and CR 100 toughness, that alone makes gear worth it.
And even though under CR100 im not fully resto modded, then even on this example my healing out is increased by ~22% compared to PvE gear stats.
So with CR 100 i have 22% more healing, loads of more toughness and good amount of more power.

There was an uodate that basically buffed people who have no gear. So basically a guy wearing pve gear can kill you while you have the 2nd highest tier of gear and that's all thanks to gu41. Enjoy

There is no rational explanation! Simple like that! How much in this game!
This is something stupid and disrespectful! Therefore gave up doing PVP! Even the brands feats encourage more me into this stupid thing ...
