Stop the Ninja Invites Already

    Ninja invite (verb): to invite someone to a Group, Raid, or Instance randomly without approval or any form of consent

    ex. You are in FoS2 and you need a Healer desperately, so you ninja invited someone on your friends list who you know is a Healer who may be really busy doing something else.

    Origin: perhaps World of Warcraft.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I have been ninja invited to various Instances by a person for far too long too many times despite adding the person to Ignore. I have sent them numerous Tells, enough that I can't keep track anymore, to kindly stop. After the 3rd time I added them to Ignore, but they repeatedly kept inviting me to run some FoS or a T4 Raid. I've grown tired of this. The Ignore function doesn't properly work.
    I happened to be ninja invited while making Remixes. :rolleyes: I was purchasing, as most people, in bulk of Soder Cola Enhancers Type IV and Soder Cola Extremes. I was constantly tapping "X" so I can keep purchasing as many as I can but all of a sudden a ninja invite appeared and I was pressing "X" away.
    I was in the group and I asked them to not ninja invite me and I had to leave the Raid because I was prepping for League run of Nexus. :mad: I would have stayed and helped despite being ninja invited (most likely I would have left if I were loot locked unless they needed help on the last boss or it would end pretty quick).
    It doesn't stop there. I was paired with someone who I don't like in a PvP match who is obviously on my Ignore List for being a total bigot. I played along and after a minute in the match, the guy remembered me and then said some disparaging terms. Probably he was Inspecting me to see if I'm "well enough geared" or not to do PvP, which there is no such thing. :rolleyes: PvP doesn't have a lower gear limit... Absurd. Anyways I've known him to be jealous of other people by Inspecting them and telling them they're hackers or doing some exploit like Quantum Time Bomb just to get higher numbers. He's done this constantly so he's obviously a hater. Anyways, back to the point: Ignore does not work as intended. It only Ignores probably Group/Raid invites, Duel invites, and being able to message the person - that's probably it. You can still get spammed with ninja invites to Instance. :eek:
    Not only that, why can't we Ignore whole Accounts and not simply characters? :rolleyes: I don't like running with some people for various reasons. And now don't go saying I have whole Leagues on my Ignore List. It's just around 20-30 people but they are fairly active because I've seen them around often.
    Devs, please fix this because the ninja invites are FAIRLY annoying. Fix ninja inviting in general. I don't mind close DCUO friends or League mates ninja inviting me because we're cool like that. :cool: But pls. Someone on Ignore shouldn't even be able to contact you except to apologize.
    I hate when this happens as well....even if I am sitting there twittling my thumbs, if I get an invite without any forewarning or tells, I decline and add to ignore list....before the 10 min deserter penalty I would even accept...waste some time at the start of the raid so they can't do anything, then tell them to stop ninja inviting and leave
    Hmm, if you put them on Ignore they shouldn't be able to invite you. If he she still does send you invites, either you're full of crap or the system is broken and I don't know what to tell you. Some people are just derpy little 12 year-olds who won't listen to a word you say. Send in a ticket perhaps?
  4. Dogzday Dedicated Player
    Yeah huh. It's very annoying (btw don't take anything I said too harshly in your thread) especially when you plan on doing something or are just messing around or crafting something. And half the time the Raids aren't even half formed which is ridiculous.
    I wouldn't do what you would do though, that's kinda doing the "an eye for an eye" kinda thing which I'm personally not into. In some cases, yeah, but I'd rather not be a nuisance to the entire group if one person was the perpetrator who selected my name from their Friends List to invite me.
    I actually have a few ounces of fecal matter floating around in my plumbing, thanks very much! :D
    They still can ninja invite you to Instances which is ridiculous. Believe me, it happened to me a bunch of times. I don't know if it takes the system a week or so to fully register someone as Ignored but I'm not sure about the technicalities of this as I'm no specialist in at least programming (yet).
    A lot are derps indeed. I don't want to report someone to ruin their DCUO gameplay but I will if I have to if this issue persists in the future. This thread is about making the Ignore List into what it needs to be. Thanks.
    regarding the other thread...I feel like every person to reply so far has had a stone to throw at me but I have my reasons for not running pvp players in raids
    as for what I mentioned here, I only do that to the ones that send the invites over and over within a 10 min period. If the raid has that long to wait for me to reply, then they have time for me to kill
    this really is getting out of hand
  8. Dogzday Dedicated Player
    You have your reasons. Everyone else wasn't in the Raid with you so they can't infer what exactly happened. Don't stress it man. People just think differently and a lot of people assume many things they shouldn't.
    I would do that too then lol if they constantly spammed me with Invites in a very short time frame. I hate ninja invites so much now.
    I agree.
    An ignore-lists, which just ignores the messages of a single toon, but not duel-invites, trades, random queues, group-invites, instance-invites etc. is completely useless.
    If I put someone on my ignore list, then because I don't want to interact anymore with that person, no matter which toon he is online with.
    And I don't want to interact with him anymore in ANY way, including trades and group-invites etc.
    I made a suggestion about that on the old PC-forums allready. Never got an answer.
    It has gotten me killed in boss fights, and worse, cost me pvp matches and lair feats.
    Thanks for staying on the thread. This is a SOLID reason why the Ignore List needs to be changed or a reason why we NEED to automatically decline Invites.
  12. Dogzday Dedicated Player
    It does decline Duel Invites - I've tried it. Other that that, I'm not sure though. Thanks for posting it on the older forums though and it sucks you never got a response. I hope that this thread gets some more attention. I haven't seen anything of this nature discussed recently, I think.
    Edit: Actually... Something similar!
    If i ever see a dev in game I plan on sending as many group invites as i possibly can. Its absurd that this far into the game this feature along with decline league invites isnt added yet.
    Ninja league invites are the worst. As soon as you accept you're flooded with league text and voice chat.
    Hmm....Sigh...:(
    Come on, Devs; please, how hard can this be? We need ignore invite options!
    Ignore Invite Options (choose one or more):
    1. Ignore group invites.
    2. Ignore league invites.
    3. Ignore duel invites. (would be moved from the duel status submenu)
    4. Ignore trade invites.
    5. Ignore all invites.
    Note: once your choice(s) are made, you must activate them again within the options menu.
    Please explain why we cannot have this option.
  16. Veziann New Player
    I ignore all ninja invites. I don't care if it's from my league, best friends or some random person.
    Those than know me will always send a tell, and I always respond to let them know if i'm busy or not.
    If I am crafting or doing something else at the time like the OP and find myself being pulled into a group or raid i'll usually fire off several expletives at the people responsible for being so rude, then leave and go back to doing what I was doing.
    Ninja inviting is just so damn rude.
    I had someone constantly ninja inviting me despite me sending him messages not to do so (oddly enough, it was FOS2 over many, many days). I then told him to never invite me to an instance because I would not accept and put him on ignore but would still get invites to instances. It got to the point that I was going to file a complaint with SOE for harassment. I was tempted to queue into an instance and explain to everyone how much this guy was harassing me and that I would help them complete the instance if they kicked him.
    I'm a big proponent of the Devs fixing game freezes/crashes but functionality to ignore ninja invites would be at the top of my list. I'd also like a feature where I'd appear offline but it's not like that would ever happen.
    you cant receive Dule invites when your in combat mode (cant send to somebody in combat mode anyway)
    can we have the same thing apply to group invites.
    obviously if i am in combat i don't need a popup asking if i want to join a group/raid
