BSOD at random.

    Hey Everyone,

Been trying really hard lately to appreciate the new hardware I recently purchased but, have been seriously disappointed. Blue screens seemingly happen at random and I have been unable to determine the cause save for a relatively consistent D1 coded mini-dump:

    Problem signature 2:

This has come in two flavors and I thought that perhaps it could be Graphics Related. I have tried everything from updating to one driver then another to see if maybe an earlier version would be more compatible and nothing seems to help. The game runs fine and then freeze up with a screen blur and stuttering sound followed by BSOD as seen above.

    System Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
    Proc: Intel i5 - 3470 3.20 GHz
    RAM: 16 GB
GPU & Card: AMD Radeon HD 7970 (V12.11_CAP2 Driver/13.1 also tried/Did not use 13.2 beta)

Not sure what to do but, this has made the experience unpredictable, irritating and unplayable at best. Is this purely a driver issue, compatibility issue or game related? I miss driving around in my tank....

STOP 0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (go to top of page)

    Usual causes: Device driver
    ----
Just using C:\Windows\Minidump\021713-11232-01.dmp and using BlueScreen to know which driver cause this.
  3. Artifex78

ALL drivers (including mainboard!) up to date? CPU/GPU overclocked? Temperature ok? Power supply unit strong enough?
  4. sagolsun

Try running prime95 for a few hours and see if your system is stable. If it isn't it might be anything from wrong ram timings to a defective PSU.
  5. Sliced

    I agree.
As it is new hardware are you sure it's not defeative hardware?
Test the CPU using prime 95, Memtest86 for the ram and use a benchmark like Heaven 3.0 for the GPU.
Don't stick with one though, try many different types of testing.
Have you configured the computer correctly within the bios? Like Sagosun said, you could have incorrect timings or volts.
    Make sure nothing is overheating.
Start easy and eliminate things until you get your answer.
It could be you are not giving enough power (PSU not having enough watts).

Ran the following program with settings used during gameplay: (may not include MSAA 8)

    Geeks3D FurMark v1.10.4

    Max GPU Temp: 63 degC
    Resolution: 1280x1024 (W) - AA:8 samples

    Added:
I have not looked into the main board. I do not over clock. As far as I can tell the temp is running fine as the fan never revs very high. Usually runs around 52%. Power supply is 900W more then enough for this card.
