Travel is all over the place.

We have instant travel for certain zones, and then we have to fly for hours (sorry my math sucks here) for other zones. Can we please bump up the travel time to instant for anything above KoS.

Instant gratification leads to getting bored quicker, and feeling less accomplished. Yes trivial things exist, but it doesn't have to be blanket similarities. Travel has always been part of the game, leave it in some places please.

That's why there is bells, druid portals, and wizard portals for every zone. Not to mention i thought they were working on, or had already implemented instant travel from anywhere to a druid ring/wizard portal from anywhere in the game. Should have played EQ1 or other games where it literally takes an hour or more to get to a zone in. It takes less then 5-10 minutes to get to ANYWHERE you can think of within EQ2.

You kids! Back when this game was new we had to run everywhere, uphill..in the SNOW (in Everfrost) both ways, and we were glad to have it!

The travel system now is reasonable and fair. Instant travel gives absolutely no sense of immersion. Some quick travel is for convenience, and I'm glad of it, but needing to do a boatride or a bird flight before you can gain it is worth it.

I can't think of one place in game where I have to fly 'for hours' to get there. Even if you go by in-world time.

2 of the new raid zones take me maybe 30 sec's to a minute to travel to based of zone times and that is fine by be. getting the HE or DC without CoE quest line completed or the Deunal Whisper colem can take a new minutes, but thats not bad either.

So as it is i dont think it takes that long to get anywhere. if you dont have the ability to fly yet, the leepers and gliders help a lot when you get them, but even without running at 130+ run speed gets you where you want to go fast.

When any zone is cleared HM you should get a portal to go to that zone in GH.

Travel hardly existed as much people think it did.

Oh no, people only have to click one bell from their home city to get to Isle of Zek instead of two bells oh the humanity!

Don't forget the access quest to be able to even use the Zek bell!

I have to wonder what this thread is actually directed to, siren's grotto isn't "hard" to get to at all, especially if you've done the questline and have world travel access. And if you havn't done the questline and you're complaining about doing the bell to GD, flight to CS, then straight line flight to SG, quit your whining and do the questline. Harrows end is easy to get to with the whispering column or the druid portal. Same goes for boat. The only place that takes *hours* of flying to is PoW and that's mostly a psychological thing (no, please no, don't get there any time soon).

Heroic zones are even easier to get to, unless we're talking about KD, then there is an extra zone to walk across!

Give me a portal in guild hall that'll take me to any zone. That way I never have to socialise in an MMO.

I shouldn't have to actually see people, Let alone talk/group/raid with them!

    Good morning Ayudarme,

Which ones are taking that long?

If you want instant travel anywhere - stock up on swift travel potions at your local station cash store.

And we only had two boots to share between the party of six, and they were both right boots.

And one sword for the whole party...and it was a left-handed falchion in a party of right-handers!

God the days even of Shattered Lands EQ2 where you had to wait 10 minutes on the boat to get back to Butcherblock to then ride to Nektulos, to run through Nektulos all the way to Darklight Woods just so you could go to Neriak.

Or what about getting from Antonica to Commonlands?
  17. Ragna Well-Known Member

It wasn't that long tbh and anyway far easier than Qeynos - Freeport in pre-PoP EQ1 :)
  18. Estred Well-Known Member

Yeah... that one you listed I have heard about it's length.

I wish travel was still like that. Like I said, instant gratification... It's not what the doctor ordered for MMOs.

Yeah everything had an access quest, be it contested, instance, overland, or the bathroom door.

It that's one feature from PoP-GoD days of EQ1 that everyone adored...oh wait.

Pre-PoP EQ1 did have zones that required keys, but they were usually targeted at end game zones with a worthy merit at the time. The entire concept was to act as a gating mechanic to make sure the zones didn't overflow by day 1. Seb, VP, and The Hole to name a few.
