login crass directx error

    I log in get to see my toons for 1 sec then game crashes. Repot says: EQ2 has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown. <verify> G:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp(6436): DirectX Error. (error) 00ce0adc 006e5d94

    Do you have DirectX9 installed? It has to be 9 even if you have a newer version of DirectX. EQ2 requires DirectX9

    More specifically, it MUST be Direct X 9.0c, which you can get from Microsoft at the link provided. Even if you have a higher version of DirectX installed, EQ2 needs that one old, very specific version. It will coexist on your machine with other DX versions without problems.

    If for some reason your flavor of Windows won't allow the DX9.0c install from the link above, use this alternate Microsoft installer instead.
