    We're usually either going into an ice age (winters = longer, colder; summers = shorter, cooler) or coming out of one (winters = shorter, warmer; summers = longer, hotter). Now we're breaking records for cold winters and hot summers. :-/

    Yeah, it is. But usually the old computers either used teeny weeny li'l tapes that wouldn't fit anywhere else (to avoid confusion, perhaps) or mondo-honkin' reel-to-reel things. ;->

    Nope, we had a tape-recorder that used standard sized cassette tapes for storage. We stored programs on it. I think it's when we had a TRS 80.
    Edit: they were special cassette tapes, not music ones.

    Ah! Yeah, true. We had an old bugger of a Gateway I got as a hand-me-down from my brother that, I think, had 128 K of memory...truly needed the li'l bitty tapes that came with it for backup. :-/

    Seems like an awful lot of "technical" problems lately that come out of nowhere.
