Unable to zone into the Plane of Health because it uses a restricted port 1935

A guildee is having this issue: every time he tries to zone into the Plane of Health, he gets disconnected. He is able to go into any other zone just fine. He is able to zone into PoHealth on Test using the same installation of EQ, so it's not a case of file corruption.

This is the reason, in his DBG.TXT:

    Code:
    [Wed Dec 02 19:12:36 2015]00687:Zone Connect -- 0 -- Received MSG_ZONE_ADDRESS
    [Wed Dec 02 19:12:36 2015]00688:Zone addr [eqzone-16.everquest.com:1935] received...

    [Wed Dec 02 19:13:36 2015]00695:Failed to connect to zoneserver (eqzone-16.everquest.com, port 1935), result = 1, for MSG_ZONE_ADDRESS.
This zone (on Povar at least) uses port 1935. That is one of the standard ports used by Flash Media for streaming. His ISP is restricting it.

Can the devs exclude port 1935 from use by zone servers?

Happens to me on all zones hosted on eqzone-16.everquest.com
Time Warner cable claims they are not the problem BUT, when i use a VPN it works fine.
This is a very frustrating because when servers restart seems random which zones come up on this server set.
I think its located in Vegas and owned by L3 based on some testing i have done.
I would rather buy more station cash than have to pay for a VPN, your other servers work fine what is the problem here?
PS. i will not reinstall, blah blah blah, it is totally repeatable with a clean install and only associated with server 16.

I am experiencing this exact same issue trying to get into Katta Castrum: Deluge currently. The crappy part is it locks my character so i cant use it for 30min-1hr... basically until the return home function is available at char select.

this is what my DBG.txt looks like:

[Mon Mar 28 19:48:45 2016]00678:Waiting to connect to zone... Character ************

    My ISP is Comcast.

Any chance a dev can respond on this?

I am still having this issue... and it seems it started right around the last patch. Is there anything that can be done for this? Anyone have any ideas? I am trying to wrap up some TDS progression stuff and not being able to zone into Katta Castrum: Deluge is putting a major kink in my mojo.

There used to be a way to report zones that were using a restricted port. No clue if anyone involved in that is still working at dbg.

You can try PMing Roshen the details (server, zone, and port number) and maybe he can forward it on to someone who can fix it.

Just as a quick update, as it might help others - I have resolved my issue myself.

My home network setup looks like this:

    Comcast ISP
    ARRIS TG862G/CT Cable router/gateway
    Cisco AC1750 Wireless router

I had the Comcast provided Cable gateway configured to have firewall disabled already, and had it locked into gateway only mode. As anyone on Comcast knows, they periodically push out updates to their provided routers from time to time. Well, apparently something had been done that made the firewall on this device go wonky. No matter what settings I configured the firewall for, I could not get connectivity to multiple Everquest servers (was more than one I found out later). Long story short, I ended up configuring my main CISCO router as a DMZ host on the provided cable modem/gateway, and that seemed to clear everything up.

Hope this information helps some others to resolve this issue.
