There are some inexpensive SC items that provide useful abilities, e.g. Ball of Fluffy Cotton (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=44493) - unlimited levitation for $1 (unless prices have changed in the last year.)
I buy those potions periodically, and I never pay 10 bucks. Wait until double or triple SC days (plus the 500 Wal Mart bonus) and I can get 6 of them for 15 bucks. Why would you ever pay full price?
