At higher levels which slows do you other shamans tend to use ? Also which disempowering line of spells get used, the cripple line or the feralize line ?
I can't speak for the raid game but as far as group is concerned I used the AA slow Turgur's almost exclusively. It doesn't take a spell gem and fully maxxed out it comes with the cripple line which I think answers your other question. The only exception to the above is if I'm main healing something challenging and then I'll use Ameliorating Counterbias to get an extra HOT going. There's another thread going that talks about the Feralize line but I've lately only been doing Gnome Memorial Mountain so I haven't bothered testing it out much since they die so quickly.
