Server crashes and the /uptime command

Logged in last night (on Tunare) to see that the Bazaar must have crashed since Friday night, since my bazaar mules were no longer logged in. Asked in general if the whole server had crashed, and got a yes, and asked when, and someone mentioned using the uptime command. I know the command from UNIX, and never knew EQ supported it.

For PoTorment, it showed the server and zone had been up 24 days. For the Bazaar, it showed 8 days since the zone had last re-started. So, if the Bazaar had been up for 8 days, where were all of the sellers? And why did players in chat say the server had crashed, if uptime said it hadn't?

Just a mystery I'd like to solve, if anyone has any info :)

sometimes when players refer to a "crash" its more of a disconnection, where the server itself doesnt precisely go down per se, its more that it just kicks everyone who is connected offline. these types of events are usually not reflected in /uptime.

But would that affect sellers (offline sellers) in Bazaar? Technically, you're not connected, you're "offline".
