Yeah 100% on the point about solely being utility in raids early on. You could really tell who the bad beastlords were because they'd think they were DPS and die within the first 20% of engaging, and then they all quit before GoD! I remember TMO had like 7 or 8? beastlords at peak, and that's without them being available at launch. Selo is going to have entirely too many. Agro from raid trash like that is another good reason to gear AC-heavy and keep that Protective Spirit disc ready. =)
Re: epic: The first round of scouts are on 20 hour (+/- a couple?) timers. Bring friends for all the fights to be on the safe side. A few other pet casters in group with your beast lord should be good.
