You used to be able to buy subs with cash. Buying cash with krono subs sounds quite reasonable.

While I admit the One time tradable would be a bad idea and would never work because they would have to update the UI for 2 types of Krono.

Do you also think that being able to buy daybreak cash is a bad idea too?

Rather bad idea if they want money. Considering they give out 500 DBCash every month you stay subbed. I personally have nearly 5k DBCash alone from that

But the only place I'd spend them at is PS2. There needs to be more stuff in EQ to buy. Is Player Studio still a thing?

One time tradable Krono, while seemingly great for players, would be a bad business move for DBG. So, I do not foresee this ever happening, or DB cash in exchange because it is a separate entity from Krono. Wouldn't make sense to take away one resource of money when you already have two that are working ie. Krono and xp pots. That's why they will continue to create TLP's because it's bringing in quite a bit of funds.

Thing is they already have the money. People paid what, like 18 bucks for the Krono? They make no more money with them just getting traded back and forth dozens if not hundreds of times. If they can get people to spend some of them on virtual items in the shop it might create a need for more to be purchased and added to the economy. Personally I have over 25 of them and have never paid a dime for one. So in effect I can keep my 2 accounts going for over a year and Daybreak will never see a penny from me simply because I have traded well on Agnarr this last month.

Hmm. A Casino 2.0 in Shadowhaven (the Las Vegas of Norrath) that was active LDoN era and dished out really interesting rewards would probably be a better cash drain. Just make Casino 2.0 use "Platinum Tickets" that cost a Krono to buy from the NPC.

Note that cash drains tend to be an incentive for farming though.

Krono loses its use as an exchange medium if it's one-time tradeable only. Anyone considering buying one is no longer in possession of an alternate currency; they are in possession of a commodity that they will need to try to find a buyer for.

Leave Krono the way they are, but add the ability to sell krono back to daybreak for daybreak cash (not real cash). Figure out a way to bring in player housing to EQ TLP servers without the rest of the expansion content (housing is instanced anyway, how hard can it be to change the entrance point). Flood the market place with vanity items for your player home (people love that ).

Kronos are fine. Also, kronos just sitting on someone's account are more valuable to daybreak then people using and consuming them. They already got the money and gave nothing back in exchange. Why would they ruin that? Some times people just don't think ideas through.

You're basically asking them to devalue kronos. The other thing I feel people really don't consider, is that kronos are cross game. Any change to them will have ripple effects in all of their games, not just EQ1....on one server.

The funny thing about kronos is that they lost at least 50% of their real dollar value the very moment you buy them from DBG. They actually lose 100% of their real dollar value if you do what DBG says and don't try to sell them on a 3rd party site.

Don't fret though, you don't buy a krono or play EQ for it's real dollar value. You give away your real money for some real time experiencing real feelings of being a little bit virtually wealthier in their virtual world.

It is all free money to DBG. So in the end, if your idea doesn't involve you handing your real dollars to DBG in exchange for virtual stuff, I doubt they will have any of it.

As stated by Ethereal and others before, DBG gets a huge benefit from unspent kronos. They don't want to take them out of circulation. They make more money when people squat on kronos and don't use them for game time. Whenever DBG chooses to cash out and close the servers, all of the outstanding krono liabilities disappear from their books. Free money to them.

best idea i have read on the forums in months. i have a huge surplus of kronos and i would easily drop some on station cash in a heart beat.

I am all for buying DBC with Krono. Why not? It's not like you can buy expansions with DBC anyway, so they aren't losing anything.

My suggestion didn't. In fact mine would make their value go up. What need do people with a year's sub rolling have with more Kronos? Just item trades and nothing else.

But if they could get DBC AND had more stuff to spend on. They have a use.

First part I would give a vote for the second part not so much. One time tradeable you cant be serious. Player A buys a krono from the store, player B buys the krono and now its no trade? Part of the incentive of buying kroon's with plat is the tradability factor of said krono. You take that away and it devalues them significantly.

Right now, if you want something that costs DBC, you have to give DBG real dollars. That is good for DBG. Right now, if you have Kronos that you aren't using for subscription time, that is also good for DBG.

The very fact that you want this implies that there are things you would like to buy in the Marketplace. So if your idea was implemented, you and a lot of other people would use the Kronos that people are ALREADY squatting on instead of real dollars. Why would DBG even consider that? It is a double-lose scenario for them (they lose both your real dollars AND the unspent kronos).

From their perspective, you either give them real dollars or you don't. But you haven't given them any reason to give you easier access to the items without spending any real $.

Right now whenever friend(s) need a krono to re-sub for the month I just give it to them since I have a ton of them which is another customer that doesn't pay for a sub. If I could spend them instead perhaps all of my friends would have to pay for a sub instead.
