Best Non-Monk/Non-Chanter TLP DPS Class?

It's comical that a person who admitted to only playing a single TLP for 2 weeks can state, with absolute certainty, that rogues are not competitive while dozens of TLP veterans state that from Kunark on they are more than competitive. The hilarity of it is astonishing.

So Rogues are OK to play again?

The thing that people overlook about melee DPS vs. Caster in the early 2000's vs now is the way XP has changed. It used to be back in the day that chain pulling lower end blue mobs was the best XP in the game. When you are killing hundreds of low level mobs an hour caster mana will never ever keep up with steady melee DPS. In the modern EQ era killing yellow to red mobs is faster XP, making caster DPS more viable because mobs live longer than half a second.

To answer the OP, if you plan to raid, play a wizard. If you want to xp group play a rogue. Also, Warriors do a lot more DPS than people give them credit for, with the same weapons they will out DPS a ranger until well into Luclin, and in Velious with a good 2 hander they can out parse a rogue if they get hosed on Backstab RNG

    They were never not ok.

Wizard is good on boss fight parses, that doesn't necessarily mean good in raids. Many of the raids like fear and hate and sky they are quite bad either due to resists or the fact that those are long raids where clearing trash is important and they can't help much with it because of long med times.

Druids can consistently parse in top 10 from Kunark-CoV unless your guild is 20 monks or 20 wizards early on. The DoT revamp and Destructive Fury coming in 5 expansions earlier than it should bumped druids up quite a bit in the DPS charts. Unfortunately though many druids are just boxes that people don’t put a lot of time into or effort into grabbing all the correct focuses pre-SoF focus standardization.

Aggro is the druids problem early on, in Luclin we'd rip aggro near the last third of every fight it felt like.
