Hello, I am trying to install Everquest on an slightly older PC with windows 8.1. It has way more than the minimum system requirements. Drivers are up to date. When I try launching the game from the launcher, the play button says playing, but nothing happens. The game does not launch. No error message or anything. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
There are a lot of troubleshooting threads in this section that probably pertain. You may have to scroll back to last year's however. Right of the top of my head there are issues with the default settings DBG supplies in eqclient.ini. Can you grab one from a working machine? And off the top of my head, have you installed DX9c? Find eqgame.exe and set Compatibility to Run as Administrator and Disable Full Screen Optimizations? There are quite a few other potential fixes posted in those threads from last year. Edited to add, I still have an old 8.1 PC that still runs. I don't use it for EQ though. But I can't think of any reason that EQ wouldn't run on it if I decided to try.
