Oh gnarly, how did I miss that! You're right, you shouldn't run away, you shouldn't try and shoot it with rockets nor should you try and solo it. Even if this works for both other MAXes! Wow, that sounds so balanced! The only way to kill a VS MAX is to play in a trained group of people who dedicate a lot of their time to building traps for a certain class only! There is no other way of killing them! Wow, that sounds so balanced!
After these changes, I think it'll be fairly reasonable. Although, I wish they'd of gone about it a different way. Someone suggested a slowly increasing level of armor debuff the longer it's on that has to slowly recede after it turns off, which felt much more appropriate than a timer. I'm hopeful it'll recharge every 8 seconds or however long they get to use it, so they can utilize it roughly 50% of the time now that it has a slightly more impacting Armor Debuff and the lateral speed was fixed in the previous patch. However, I do think even after the changes it'll still have more useful situations than Lockdown, simply due to the total removal of movement being a death knell in this game. (Especially in Infantry Combat)
Hey try PLAYING as a ZOE MAX. Support to keep you alive doesn't exist. If you want to stay alive and get repaired, you have to get nano-repair. Engy's don't repair or give you ammo. Medics won't revive you. Nobody gives you cover or helps kill with you. You're entirely on your own, all the time, even in a zerg.
Oh man, I guess that's my fault because I don't play VS! Good thing is that I play TR, that's why the TR has such a good support on the MAXes. Even though I only play with aircraft! Wow, what a weird thing!
First off, don't take the jab as an insult, I'm not insulting really anything, but you getting pretty worked up in a nerdrage there. 1. I never believed the ADAD myth, what I saw was particle effects obscuring my aim which gave the illusion that maxes were warping (I aint turning my settings down and increasing my gamma to make things stupidly easier to shoot, I ain't petty). 2. 20% increased damage was a big debuff, for a slow or immobile target, the LARGEST problem with ZOE is mobility is both a buff to power and survivability. Shots are more likely to miss you, you can move farther away from splash damage, the most damaging thing to you (rockets) has a pretty good chance of being dodged. If you have an erratic pattern of movement, C4 has a pretty good chance at not killing you. On top of that, you have a lot easier time at preventing your own death by just running away and finding someone to repair you, or do what I do, take a jog and let nanites do their work. IMO, if you want more survivability, you take charge, if you want more damage output, you take ZOE, it's a trade off, not an all-in-one package. 3. The fuel bit is overboard, 8 seconds time limit is too much and makes the VS MAX ability worthless. If anything, give them a 1-1.5 second windup period when switching in and out of ZOE.
I would have been better to just make it shut off after receiving X damage. Then it goes on to a 15 second cool down or something like that until it can be restarted.
Good job, SOE. I'm just sitting here laughing at the VS who are all up in arms about it. Kudos to the ones who know it was very necessary.
Well, it is a subtle way to erase the ability and replace it with something else. Maybe jetpacks, as they are practically ready.

I agree with all the changes in their current state and think all of them are appropriate and balanced. You can't go anywhere on Live right now and fight VS without seeing hordes of ZOE MAXes. The whole thing is/was ridiculous and I'm glad that it's being taken care of. NC Maxes can't fire and TR Maxes can't move but VS were just mowing people down just toggling off ZOE if they got into any serious trouble. TR Burster was pretty strong too so I can accept that nerf.
2250 certs in ZOE...and now it's going to be useless... Awesome SOE. Maybe if you could actually test things before they went live, or better still gave us jumpjets, you wouldn't have to screw over the VS yet again. Worst ESF. Worst MBT. Useless faction trait on weapons. Worst MAX AV weapons. SOE just hate VS apparently.
Worst? The stats don't go by golf rules, VS is on top in a good amount of areas, sorry you aren't god mode and don't even say its because vs players are just better.
Which is exactly why we need to talk about it now, so it never hits the real server. Personally I think the ability was a bad idea from the start, and these test nerves are quite bad. I would loved it if they changed it. With the timer its speed bonus is like a worse dash, and its damage bonus is over compensated by the extra damage they recieve, this while the nc had an equaly good bonus if used well. I'd personally like to see the vanu ability redone from the start because just messing with stats is just not a fun bonus.
HELLO TO EVERYONE This guy got it right. Its a test. Quit whining/beating the VS into a pulp for whining. If you pass the test, you get to start on the home team. If not, you get put back in the workout room for another try. You could be a MASSIVE ZOE nerf. or just a minor one. We'll see, now go test it out and quit taking up space here on these forums....you make my eyes bleed tears for your imminent self-immolation
Making chilidish posts about how the Vanu max is doomed and how people are going to quit and how the world will end if these changes go live is silly. It's changes on the test server which means that they will probarly change. If you want to discuss the changes then do so but be constructive and stop pretending that it's the end of the world. Yes, it was only nerfs but what did you guys expect? Buffs to a already super strong ability? You forum guys are hilarious.
I'm so glad I didn't cert ZOE at all! With all the crying when it hit live, it was almost sure they would work again on it... I hope those changes will not screw the ZOE users, but we'll have to test it first (and as test server is almost empty, expect those changes to hit live)
WHAT spike damage???? At max rank it reduces bullets to kill by ONE (from 7 to 6 or 6 to 5) while reducing the number of shots to kill the max BY AN ENTIRE MAGAZINE
