I see engineers and LAs all the time with the S variant of their weapon with an UBGL on the rail but almost never do I see medics with the S rifle with UBGL. Are the majority of people unaware that there is an AR that can have UBGL? For me it did take some time before I discovered that there was a gauss rifle S.
Well I know for NC people consider the fore-grip to take a higher priority, since one of the downsides to high damage low RoF is misses have a more significant impact on kill times. But I see a lot of lasers also. I guess overall people would rather have a steady improvement in performance over an additional function that might be a little situational. Personally I used to use the UB shotgun more because it dodged all the shogun nerfs, but I went for the burst-fire variants back when the buffed them and haven't looked back, so those have been out of the picture... except in VR... it's still there in the loadout menu to stalk me like an ex-girlfriend that insists you still lover her despite the restraining order.
Because: - LAs can hop around on roofs and find enemy spawn points/choke points and nuke them from above - Engineers have infinite ammo so they can just 420 noobtube every day - CMs can't do either of these things and a) UBGL requires S(S is for "****" by the way) version of the weapon b) it takes place of the most valuable weapon slot
i'm considering the T1S at the moment for my trauma-medic (small squad profile) b/c i get left alone a lot, and i need that 1 or 2 instakill *umph* for an infil or a heavy that keep me from bringing back fallen comrades... while also needing something a little more medium range for the rest of the time (just for defense). Ergo the notion that the T1S with UBSG could be my dance partner, yet... there is the ammo issue (which engi do not have). Any experiences anyone wants to share with the UBSG? is it effective? is the ammo short? reload time issues? is it a good combo with the med range abilities of the T1S? I know the UBGL and UBSM are both bugged to hell and back... so they're out of the question (not what i need for the Trauma-medic anyway) in case it's not clear UBSG- under-barrel shotgun UBGL - under-barrel grenade UBSM- under-barrel smoke grenade TL;DR- do you recommend the use of the T1S under-barrel shotgun for short range combat medic loadouts?
Another downside would be that UBGL increases weapon equip time, so it will take longer to swap between medic tool and primary. I have a cycler s with UBGL and it certainly works good, but a proper medic, that rolls with the squad, and prioritizes healing and ressing over shooting doesn't really need additional firepower. Reloading primary after fire support, reloading UBGL, all takes precious time that could be used to heal people. In a small squad UBGL would be a valuable asset, but in big battles that would be a drop in the sea, and would hurt medic and his platoon more than enemies.
T1S or Gauss-S with UBSL and IRNV is actually a pretty good combination. Equinox is nearly unusable though, unless you have UBGL and an Engineer pal.
UBSG is one of the joke things in this game. Sure it does great damage but the reload time is way too long.
If that is for the typo, I tried to edit it, anyway I meant to say Gauss Compact S (NC's S Carbine). But yeah, I actually like the UBSG. It is a nice supplement to the Carbine itself.
Only if you try to use it like a normal shotgun as opposed to an UB attachment. You use it and switch back to primary fire, then reload it when you have down time to get it ready for another use, just like the UBGL only instead of popping a grenade it's an "I Win" button in hip a CQ hip fire situation. Never had an issue with the long reload.
The Gauss Rifle S is a legit great gun - very low first shot multiplier, directional recoil, respectable dps with 167/577rpm. It was my fastest Aurax of all my guns as you can treat it pretty much as a Gauss Rifle that trades a bit of up close versatility for at least 2 insta-kill grenades per spawn. Unlike the other S ARs, it doesn't NEED the grip because it's already stupidly accurate ON TOP of being directional, 100% controllable recoil. If sitting on top of an ammo pack with other UBGL engies you're a right terror, because you're keeping them alive and you're ALL spamming the whole time. It's basically a really good gun that gets the best attachment in the game, and I strongly recommend it to everybody.
I use Gauss rifle S with smoke launcher and trueshot for squad leading. Awesome weapon to be sort of a marksman, hang back in the 2nd line (like medics and SLs should do, you're no good when dead) and pick off flankers that go for your squadmates meanwhile their focus on frontline fighting. And when somebody goes down, pop a smoke next to their corpse and revive. Before ordering a push, pop a smoke to cover them. Lovin it.
