If you are a long time fan or a vet, you need to see this.

I think Wrel needs to visit the forums. While we do have some salty as hell veterans, we also have great ideas. I know when I disagree or debate with someone, I at least try to throw in an idea, solution, or different angle to the discussion to create a spark of discussion. And I'm not alone in that regard.

Reddit in its cesspool doesn't represent the entire community. I don't and probably will not ever have a Reddit account.

lets be honest here... he makes good videos, but is a bit of a condescending *****, and isnt really much more than a company puppet, or errand boy than a dev. that said, if you watch the video, the things that he once blamed the on devs that were killing the game is now suddenly our fault aswell..... strange. i guess an employer, and all you can eat DBC can have that kind of effect on some people

i'll be honest i actually see some good points being made in the cynical/ or negative way of things , such as shunning everything that even remotely has the word legs in it .

Even if it is condescending it is an intriguing point.

Whoa, whoa are we in the same forum? We have some suggestions here, yes. But this forum is going in circles for a long time now.
Posts keep repeating themselves. Artillery? Aircraft/AA? Cheater-Accusations? FIXYOURGAMESOE? Thats nothing new. Almost every post here has already been made. Yeah sometimes a good idea pops up, and consequently gets drowned in a mix of Spam, Warhammer-references and whine. When was the last time you saw something genuinely new?

No. Wrel is right, the quality in this forum has taken a dive. Just like it has on reddit. Of course Reddit doesnt represent the entire Community. But neither does this forum. BOTH of them are declining in Quality. Yes, there are good, worthwhile posts in this forum. Yes some people make quality statements with surprising consistency. But these people are not the majority. This forum is toxic, hatefull and downright insulting at times.

Its not all our fault though. Its as much the devs fault as it is ours. There are no new guides or discussion about new content because there is no new content. There is literally nothing to talk about but the same stuff over and over. There is nothing that hasnt been discussed to the point of nausea. What we desperatly need from the dev side is some new content. What we need from our side is some open-minded optimism.
  6. DooDooBreff

optimism..... lol. people who pay for things dont want to hope their purchases become worth the money. its the devs responsibilty to provide a good product. i find it hard to believe that they are so nieve to think that there wouldnt be salty people in a f2p, borderline neglected mmo. myself, i enjoy ps2. im not mad the devs, or go out of my way to hurt the community....hell, i pay for it.

but the truth is...they upset the players over silly crap like never using the offical forums except to lock threads, or cant even be arsed to make bulletins for 2x events or sales. this just lazy.

    heres an analogy..
daybreak pizza- hey im 2 hours late with your order, and i just didnt feel like adding the pepperoni. enjoy!

customer- wtf... ill try it anyway. this pizza sucks. i dont want to pay for this.

daybreak pizza- half of the reason your order is wrong, and tastes bad is because of your bad attitude, and lack of optimism. if you want to file a complaint, dont call or email us directly. we prefer to use another companys contact methods. while we're here would like to join our members club?

as i said, i enjoy the game, but if it wasnt F2P it would have been a ghost town a year ago, and we wouldnt be discussing pretentious "dev" ramblings

These forums are probably the most civil gaming forums of any MMO out therre. People rarely downright troll each other here. If you want an example, look at Black Desert. That game is less than 2 months old and its a bile driven mess.

Every game is going to have a salty bunch. That's the nature of it. Content people, the silent majority are going to not post as they have little to complain about. When I talk to people in game over voice, they're usually quite up beat, motivated, and having a ton of fun. I don't hear a fraction of the complaints in game as I do in the forums.

But like I said, even the complaints in the forums are kept to a minimum in comparisons to new games. I know Reddit is a mess and always has been. But they don't moderate over there and the reddit culture itself is horrible to begin with. But thats what happens when you design a website like some buggy geocites or angelfire site.

The only thing Daybreak is doing wrong there is using that pos site instead of their own forums which have superior features.

Wrel, why not developing a few things that were announced in 2012-2013? People ask since years for it, and
    not for a crafting system.

i agree with Taemien here, i play several games and read the forum on all of them
take a glance at GW2's pvp forum the ENTIRE PAGE is nerf, fix, qq! seriously, 26 threads and they are all negative.
here on the Ps2 forums the majority of threads are suggestions and the rest are discussions, i see only a few nerf threads :)

our community is pretty great :D

Wrel is right, but he is not helping it is he?

We all are spoiled children when it comes to entertainment (including myself, dont worry), so spoiled that it is really hard for us to define what actually creates value and what does not. We are tought to wait for improvements, content and whatnot and just as pavlov's dog druled (correct spelling?) when he heard a bell, we are tought to think: fun and enthousiasm when the update bell rings.

But really we are so wrong. The greatest moments do not come from perfect gameplay and / or new content, it's 1 word, community. Those glorious moments when we managed to keep a hex under our control with Irom Pulse against all odds, the Community feel we shared during our woodman radio shows. The drunken ops concept (blurry but fun experiences for everyone),. I had a brief play on NC side with Consortium (CONZ) and ejoyed truly great tactical experiences while not being yelled at. And even on the forum insane threads by trying to get SOE (back then) to make helmets from emoticons and whatnot.

Those are the moments that give value to games like these. I have never been so excited about new content then i have above the things i listed above.

Right now on Miller, i saw KOTV stepping up their game again, on the first crusade i did with them i heard a player dissing another outfit, maybe it's time we spend some time community building again and find our common goal (which btw is not winning).

Who cares the bike is rusted and has a flat tire, as long as we'll ride together (and i can bring some scotch), I'm all for it.

What a dreary, negative video. Hardly imagine a new player seeing that would feel inspired to stick with the game, and vets will just feel like they're being trolled. Shame as I usually like Wrel.

They lost me due to this easy hacking of game files. They had 2 years and they did something(probably nothing) to prevent this.

Guess when DBG pays you monthly you easy change your story.

Waiting for some new MMOFPS came out to finally move out from this dying bad game.

So what kind of puppet did they turn him into? Strings tied to his wrists and ankles or a fist up his Higbyhole?

I agree that wrel should come here. Talking sense and stating unequivocal stats often gets downvoted on reddit.

I think wrel is being realistic, not negative. I totally disagree with what he said about ps4 though, as a lot are bordering on demented in their view and experience of the game.

I'm not going into it but a fair amount are trying to waltz in what is a firmly established mosh pit and they just don't get it, and don't want to.

Even if the community for this game could recover, the game itself is still a horrible mess that could only be fixed by alienating the remaining people still mildly content with it (or just enjoy abusing the horrific imbalances to feel good about themselves/frustrating someone else...) mostly because it IS the only MMOFPS. Every other one is an open world shooter with an internet connection required, and Fallout has those games trumped as far as I'm concerned.

I mean yeah... as time goes on bitter vets start becoming the norm but you know what? Good games that last just as long have much better, more optimistic communities. He even references Warframe for this very reason, and it's true in Warframe's case. The trolls and aggressive posters don't disappear with a more optimistic community, however, the the general attitude of players towards a game on its forum is incredibly indicative of the quality of the game. There is no game forum where this isn't true.

A $#!%%& game has mostly unhappy people wishing the game was better. A good game has happy people wishing for the game to get even better. Planetside 2 most certainly is not the latter, and I don't think any serious shooter fan interested in a good, MMO scale PvP shooter will be happy with Planetside 2 as it is now. The MMOFPS just isn't meant to operate the way Planetside 2 does now.

just because someone makes a point doesnt mean its valid.....

the last 2 years the devs have been so hands-off ( outside of the trash continent hossin ) thats its simply unfair to blame a salty community for their lack of effort, and negligence of long running problems. Now that they are finally making a major game changing update theyre going to take the high horse... go figure

funny how he mentions warframe and their constant content updates and their happy community... its not because the players are saints or sinners, but because their devs are baby sitting their game. Wrel seemed to leave out the part that this difference is what really matters, and tries to pass half the blame on us.

Dont drink the kool-aid, and try to objectively look at this. Anything wrel says has to be corporate approved, and a big chunk of it is probably words put in his mouth
