Would you approve of a relaunch?

Boy people just have no patience these days........ I have never seen an online game that didn't have bugs, Especially a game that just came out.

It takes time and effort to make updates to a game.

I just hope that the next update is good.

How are the pilots to blame for lack of deterrents against them? Or even a legit defense reward for defending bases the zerg decides they've got what they want from it? Yeah don't blame the poor rendering distances. Got forbid we have to blame pilots for the problem with the game. Yeah lets not think logically here.
  3. Protential

I mean just reset the scoreboards.
  4. Talizzar

    What would be the reason?

They could add outfit housing down the road. I doubt it will happen as it really has no place in the game but if they can sell you stuff to do it, maybe.

I would love to see an Outfit decal or patch that could be submitted for approval and place in game.
  5. forkyar

    and to add,@op NO.this is a fps.

I cant understand why someone in SOE marketing/game development hasn't come out and said "Ok! We see you want an update on the games direction. The state of the game announcement will be on >insert date<." That would at least give people something to wait for. The communication between devs and players was great during BETA and they told us many times how much they like to listen to and communicate with the community etc. I can't understand why we are now a week into January and it seems no-one with any authority is doing anything to appraise the community on where if anywhere this game will be going. Even this "Faction Leaders" event on the 25th is annoying as its been released with no details on what the hell its actually about or even if non-US players (or even players not on their specific server) can be involved. We have SeaNanners and Tobuscus representing their assigned factions but judging from their channels they barely understand how the game works which is a major fail. In SeaNanners stream he was running around not able to find much of a fight for about 45 minutes as he clearly didn't understand the map interface. I can imagine how that looks to a prospective new player.

Where I'm at personally is that I'm getting to the point where whenever I log in I get bored. There is no point with the "META"/strategic game at present as I've done everything there (we achieved a triple lock on Woodman about 2 weeks ago) and I dont feel motivated to do it again for what accounts to an unrewarding experience. The gun game is ok for 30 minutes but after that I get frustrated with being a solo player in a game that requires and rewards excellent organisation or overwhelming numbers of unorganised players ("quantity has a quality of its own" to quote Stalin). I'm in a outfit that has dropped massively in numbers (300 supposedly in the outfit) down to roughly 10-20 guys who just follow a way point and are no longer are interested in much beyond that. I've hit BR45 so have enough certs to have tried most things to some extent so unlocking new stuff doesn't hold much interest or a change up in game style. Thinking about it I probably spend more time suggesting ways the game could work better on the forums than I do actually playing the game at the moment which probably means its time to take a break.

Get me straight. Post launch I was one of the people saying; hold up guys be patient... but at this point I'm just a bit more than perturbed that such broken meta-game mechanics, including character progression and vehicle>>>>infantry balance, is largely left ignored by now. I got the whole holiday vacation, that is certainly deserved, what I don't like is the waning interest everywhere and the zerg-tactic that replaces meaningful outfit play because no one who is really into strategy and tactics can find the desire to play the game consistently.

I understood the whole; January update, but I feel at this point the game needs a 'relaunch' and a refocusing of its persistent features which completely do not exist. I mean a 'relaunch' can't be too hard to imagine... we are going to be downloading a brand new client .exe supposedly sometime this month.

Again I'm just impatiently waiting on the January 'six month plan' or some words of acknowledgement of the 'core' fan's unrest and complaints.

Some of my favorite games are F2P. I can't stand most pay to plays. What exactly gives you the idea that turning it into a Pay to Play would in any way make it better? Better community? You're joking, right? That'd make the community WORSE. Look at WoW.
  9. QuantumMechanic

I wouldn't approve of a relaunch until the game is in a *good* launchable state. That might sound harsh but that's how I feel. And the game is probably 3 to 6 months away from being in that state.
  10. Alrikster

Relaunch and loose all my progress?
    Not gonna happen.
  11. quicKsanD

    No.
I've been a legit player and I am BR 53 unless you're going to give me back that time don't relaunch. Besides balance changes will happen to guns purchases it probably already happened. The whole point of Planetside is that BR1 and BR100 people all have access to the same basic vehicles, guns, and planes. While there might need to be more balance changes no reason to wipe everything.
  12. QuantumMechanic

Nobody said anything about character wipes. That's completely out of the question - ever since SOE started taking our money spent on our characters.

If I understand OP right, he's talking about a PR "relaunch", when the game is actually ready to embrace the masses rather than make them ragequit.
  13. Stromberg

the game is designed to play all classes not to play one class and cry on forums how your counter kills you. if you blatantly ignore the possibility to play everything because you don't like it, i can understand, but you don't get to cry about it! If you refuse to counter an ESF/Lib with an ESF because you can't or don't want to fly, it's not the game's fault!
  14. maxkeiser

I dont' see any 'massive' imbalances. I've been having battles raging for HOURS on Woodman with both sides pushing back and forwards. Brutal engagements with no outright winner often. This is a sign that balance is fairly equal (obviously).

Also, the continents are spread equally between the factions (usually).
  15. Crashsplash

    No. Not happening.

More RPG elements. Yes, but not perhaps in the sense you mean. The original planetside was more than simply an fps and that was why it had a cult following that it had.

Smedley also talks about 'emergent gameplay' and references Eve and I can see why planetside could fit into that model. In planetsdie the players are the content.

But not in the mmorpg sense, no quests, no crafting, no pve. However, yes to people coming together and working together, yes to the meta-game, yes to rts and so on.
  16. XRIST0

Game if fine , no need to relaunch ..

Just a pacth to fix bugs and performance would be nice .
  17. Nehemia

Why, when the scoreboards aren't exactly functioning as intended?
  18. IshanDeston

If you give me all my money back, every single SC i spend, renew my Premium Membership for the time lost and hand me all the certs i've made in the time so far.

    Sure i wouldn't mind.

Remove any part from this equasion as in "not give me my certs" as in "not give me my SC" and they would have lost a customer for good. I am not going to start at Square 1 again, again. It didn't bother me as much after beta because the Progression wasn't F-ed up. I would get a cert for 100exp, and the progression was fine.

I don't have the patience to grind 600+ certs again just to get all my Stock weapons at a useable level. Yes, i realize i could use them before that, but as NC those Upgrades really make a big differance. And i don't feel like grinding a couple more thousand exp to get my Medic back in working order.

No, i am not fine with a restart with a clean slate. I would welcome it to turn into PS1, what i wouldn't is starting over. My vacation is over, i don't have the time to play 6 to 8 hours a day anymore. It will take me months to get the same amount of playtime in, as i have done in my vacation, with the holidays and everything.

    Who cares about them anyway?

  19. Cevera

Everything that includes a character-wipe is not going to happen
    (Grinding 22k Certs again? no^^)

Looking forward to hear their 6-month plan.
  20. Brok9000

    YES. But not immediately/soon.

I think just let those who are having fun and spent money (I spent some, not a lot) continue to do so as they fix things. get some balance and some meta-game elements in and see how well they work. Prepare for a relaunch with new stuff. That should take 6-8 months. Probably provide some SC refunds to those who spent a lot of money (this is not me) in the relaunch because it isn't fair to just wipe stuff like that but it is best for the long-term playability/outlook of PS2. Like 25-50% of the SC you bought now, you get in the relaunch for free.

=> I think right now just merge some servers and fix some things that really annoy people and that are easy to fix. Rendering, sadly, is not easy to fix but many little things are.
