Would you approve of a relaunch?

Considering the massive imbalances of a lot of the combined arms battles and the general lack of depth to the 'upgrade/sidegrade' system would anyone be for a complete relaunch based on a new meta game in both a strategic/resource/balance sense and in MMORPG 'customization' sense?

This is an open beta with a consumer store. The consumer store would imply that people might feel 'jipped' if something they bought changes and becomes less effective. This is actually the very bad side of the F2P market model. However, we are only so far into the game that a relaunch, marketed as such or not, would benefit more people and SOE and PS2 more than losing a few people who bought the game breaking Lib/ESF/MBT upgrades which are destroying interest in this game just as much as a lack of purpose.

See, because this game is an MMOFPS it can not just hope to be a large 'arena' but must also more fully strive to being a 'world' and 'universe' where its players can live in and spend time in. You'd be surprised if you allowed outfits to make their own 'Barracks' on their faction's Sanctuary how many people would waste their time working to checking that out.

I digress though... would anyone be okay with a fresh restart with a more fleshed out MMO focus as well as a more balanced and nuanced FPS Combined Arms core?

    Don't really care, tbh.
  3. mags

No chance of that happening. Also, no.
  4. Vlas

Dude, dont bring your RPG into this FPS.

While I don't think a relaunch is necessary, a little bit more roleplaying stuff wouldn't hurt.

Sure, give me all of my money back - and I mean money, not just refunded SC - including the money I paid for Alpha Squad.. Sure.

Do whatever you want with the game then.

Unless core issues and concerns we discuss on this forum daily get addressed, there'd be no point.

No one is EVER going to take this game serious without some sort of a wipe or re-start.

Reason being, LIberators, these players who use this, on average, have about a 30,000 kill head start on anyone else playing the game.

From any MMO, or FPS stand point, especially with exp involved, this ruins the game from a competitive stand point.

I will still play it, but despite what they turn the game in to, It will just be another Arena game to me, even if all problems are fixed. If I know every top player was either A. "Exploiting" (Referring to certian vehicle systems and imbalances being abused.) or B. Hacking I can never take this game serious, on a Counter-strike level...

It will always just be a CoD. Never know who is good or bad, just know everyones main goal is to cheat, and or exploit the ghayest things they can possibly find.

That being said, I do not mind it being an arena type game, thts cool I guess...But as long as all these lib pilots know they ruined the integrity of this game just as much as a hacker did, it is what it is, will never be an "E-sport" competitive, or serious at all, will never reach even half of Ps1's quality.

Relaunch? What? Thats unheard of as far back as I can recall.

The game launched, ready or not. No "relaunch" is possible. Though the game can change and evolve through updates. That seems to be the way a lot of video game developers are headed with games.

I think this game will see some pretty significant revisions in gameplay mechanics. Its been hinted at, and should be revealed soon. You can call it a Relaunch if you want, the rest of us will call it an update.

I think he is referring to like the new Final Fantasy thing. They launched a game, it failed. They closed the game, and said Oh we'll we will release it again in a year or two. Sorry for sucking the first time.

Without some Wipe to take away the "Pro's" stats who abuse poor systems and or hacked the last 3 weeks straight while SoE was out buying prostitutes with your money. I am telling you the ego's who will begin to "run" this game are going to ruin it.
  12. Vlas

The only game that did a drastic re-direction was SoE's own SWG.

    Look what happened there.
  13. Rivenshield

Yes. But it isn't going to happen.
  14. Kardes

I would approve of an expansion pack.....

I think that's going to be the closest thing we get to a "relaunch"
  15. vilehydra

They made the 'everyone can get everything' to maximize profits. If your limited in what you can use, you won't buy as much. A by-product of the F2P system.

They'd need to relaunch it with the old PS1 class system, re-reig the meta-game and resources, put in more continents, Fix vehicle spam, redesign bases, optimize, and most importantly make it Pay to play.

The damage is done. I sincerely hope everyone at SOE enjoyed that extended vacation, clearly worth ensuring the complete failure of a 2+ year long project.
  17. HerpTheDerp

    Sure, but it ain't happening.

I would appreciate everyone becoming a slightly higher degree of patient. Smedley has stated meta game is coming, 6 month plan this month which features to be implemented will be decided by us, and a new optimization patch fixing perf, rendering, and stability, as well as many bug fixes.

They just need to do some serious patching ASAP, and they need to be willing to nerf things that people bought while they were overpowered. Most players should understand the necessity, as long as it isn't blatantly nerf/buff cycling to encourage buying new items for profit which would harm their reputation and give serious ammo to pay to win system critics. They have to clearly be changes for balance.

As for cert gains and k/ds and all that, other player's stats may be meaningless/illegit now that people have used all sorts of cheese/exploits/abuse, but I think that's far less important than the actual gameplay. It's not a hardcore FPS where top players compete with other top players, it's a game full of people who thought "hey, it's a free game, I'll try it". And you know how you got your stats at least.
