Will extra RAM help me?

    Hello all,

Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit
CPU: Core i5-750 (4x3,6 GHz) - I can set it for stable 4GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM (64 bit)
    Video Memory: 2048 MB
Video Card: nVidia GeForce GTX 750Ti
    Resolution: 1680 x 1050

I am playing on low without shadows to have stable 60+fps.
During normal play I have 100+ fps (even in big fights).
The problem is that after each game start I can’t play for about 5 minutes because of low fps 1- 5.
After this time I can play without any problems for some time. Then suddenly I have 1-5 fps and the game is unplayable. In this time I can hear that my HDD is working very hard.
Even worst situation is when I take ESF. I simply can’t play on Indar because of very often fps drop.

So my question is: will extra 4GB of RAM help me?
Will CPU OC up to 4GHz change something?

Absolutely, I have seen my total system memory usage whilst in the game at approx 6.5GB so it can use more than 4GB system memory. Whenever your system starts using virtual memory (basically loading from hard drive) performance will start to crawl.

adding another 4gb ram should help you.

The minimum specs are at 4 gigs of ram and the recommended are at 8. Having an additional 8 gigs of ram can help alot.

    • OS: Windows 7 or later (64-bit)
    • Processor: Core i5-760 or better / AMD Phenom II X6 or higher
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Hard Drive: 20 GB free
    • Video Memory: 1,024 MB RAM
    • Video Card: nVidia GeForce 500 series or higher / AMD HD 6870 or higher
    • Sound Card: DirectX compatible

Yes, RAM is usually very cheap and last i checked a 4GB chip cost around 30-40 USD. It should bump up performance significantly.

After all I have decided to buy extra RAM.
Now with 8GB the game is working very well without fps drop.
Even in big fights I have stable 100+ (with better graphic quality) and finally I can fly on Indar and use “instant action” J
8GB Ram is what the game really needs.

Basically no modern computer should have less than 8. Ive seen overall consumption of 7.2GB out of my 16 with PS2 open. Windows will use as much as it can if you allow it to and system RAM actually acts as extra RAM for your GPU if it runs out of its own onboard RAM.

if you get 4 more gb of ram then those 1-5 fps will be eliminated.

Agrees on all these comments as it really does make a difference in gameplay and FPS issues in big fights.
