    as per topic title ?

also did this bring the VS numbers back up or did I miss something else ? they are overpopulated again :(

NC on watterson just capped indar from the west spawnpoint as of 15 mins ago. You just need to work as a team with the other bajilion people on your faction to cap all the bases. i know it seems hard but that is the point of the game and why so many players are on each server!

Or, you just need a 50-60% population to do it.

I just want to make it perfectly clear that ODAM is to blame as well since they did absolutely nothing to help. So an overwhelming NC force were up against a bunch of lone wolfs. In that scenario, warp gate position means nothing.

It seems to me that the tables has turned and that we have the inverse of where we were a couple of months ago. NC has a pretty much constant population advantage on Waterson now. I have also noted huge numbers of people with a battle rank of 10-20 in the NC and they are not playing like noobs so obviosuly, a lot of people have jumped over to the NC recently.

cobalt tr have the north spawn most of the time holding 50% of the map
new patch NC are now the north spawn mostly holding 50% of the map
new patch VS now have the north spawn and are currently holding 50% of the map

that to me seems nothing todo with Teamwork and more todo with terrain favouring the north spawn point.

Im seeing a resurgence of VS on cobalt

Location, location, location. If you notice the two southern warp gates are at the corners and the northern gate is in the middle. That's the first thing. Second, the northern half of the map is flat. The south east corner is full of canyons. The south west corner is a plateau.

The typical stalemate on Indar has the northern gate controlling the upper half of the map because of the above mentioned layout. It is easiest to take the continent from there, but it is not the easiest to defend. That's the southwest gate. Arc Bio has to be the single most defensible zone in the game at the moment.

And I have nothing but respect for any empire that manages to take Indar from the south east. It's all up hill from there.

Because the crown separates the map in 3 pieces.
  8. Czuuk

Nah. The crown is a red herring. It's a trap. Push for the crown too early and you lose the continent.

tbh that makes sense then the top of the map shouldn't have 2 corners and the map should be a triangle shape ? else whoever has the north is just going to have 50% of the map by default

edit:I think that gives the perception that faction x (northspawn) has most of the map almost all the time so I'm going to play that faction.

nah, besides the biolabs and crown, I think Stronghold is the best defensively and the south east is the hardest to take because you can go all thermopylae on the enemy zerg because of all the tight canyons. if you can stop stronghold from being taken fast, you can hold out there virtually indefinitely. The Blue Lions on Matherson did it regularly when NC was in the southeast.

With VS 31/TR 33/NC 36 population last time I logged on, VS had about 60% of Indar. When NC had the north warpgate, they spent more time being warpgated.
  12. Hobo Jack

i think that the north side of indar is also wider and that the hex "map" is not to scale also the shape of the territories divides the norther territory into three lanes of travel (easternly by the bio lab/techplant, middle past the crown by TI alloys/hydropontics, and westerly by hvar) the other two warpgates only have two ways to go from their warpgate at least untill they get as far as the crown. so the norther territory is just BIG but if im not mistaken the number of territories is fewer the southern has lots of smaller facilities lots more towers for sure!
  13. Czuuk

Arc Bio Engineering. South west corner. VS held there for months prior to first warp gate rotation. We've been holding there all morning after the 7:30 cap. First time Indar has been taken since we last took it after first warp gate rotation. Holding multiple platoons in every zone with Arc Bio.
  14. Czuuk

This is why they started warp gate rotation.

The problem with the crown is that the controlling empire seems to get tunnel vision in defending that one base that they don't bother defending any of the surrounding areas.

I have logged on so many times to find the empire holding the crown are completely cut off from the rest of their territory because the other empires simply circle round and trap them there because they simply don't want to leave a) because they can farm a ton of exp whilst defending it and b) because getting it back will be a pain in the ****.
  16. TintaBux

    Not the case on Miller.
  17. Czuuk

The crown is highly defensible, no doubt. But it can be taken with sufficient force and proper strategy. Arc Bio is about 200m from teh bubble. You can mount a very effective zerg on it in seconds.

Ultimately the crown is a cert farm and a red herring.
  18. Phrygen

south west is the best warpgate by far
  19. GhostAvatar

Very simple reason really, due to the nature of the terrain the zerg will in most cases just steamroll through base after base, until they hit certain environmental choke points.

    Question:

Why is it the faction that controls the north way point on Indar has 50% of the map ?

    Answer:

    Bad game design.
