Why do so many people still play?

Dunno, I have no problem finding enjoyable fights on Miller, and I've actually had some luck with the latency lately, so yeah.

I'm pretty new to the game, TR on Miller and play almost every day... I have to say that I am having a good time every night mostly so I dont really know what your on about or what the problem is.

I hear people crying about 'zergs' both on forums and in-game but I really dont see what the issue is, from my perspective as a single player I kill lots of things, lots of things kill me, sometimes we cap a base sometimes we get wiped, sometimes I'm in a full platoon, sometimes a singl squad, sometimes I go solo. - I have fun! This is all part of the game.

We zerg, they zerg.. everyone zergs, but the GOOD platoon leaders seem to be those who are able to recognise when a situation is hopeless, re-deploys everyone and jumps somewhere else, sure the enemy are sometimes quick to do the same, sometimes they are slow, sometimes we re-deploy to a completly different contient... where it can be better, it can be worse.

Its not just planetside, but other openworld or what I call 'mass' pvp games like you see in Archage or Eve Online, I get sick of everyone pissing and moaning about zergs all the time... personally, I love facing a zerg because while they have the numbers, they are usually poorly organised and occasionally, just occasionally a better more organised and controlled team who fights intelligently defeats the zerg... and boy, is that feeling good, its well worth being "zerged" over and over again for that one single time when everyone plays out of their skin.

Honestly, the only time I dont have fun in planetside, is when the platoon leader gets pissy about zergs.

TR and NC on Miller zerg pretty rarely compared to VS.
I still can't get what's the fun for average VS zerg when they cap a base with 70-80-90% overpop. I highly doubt that most of them even make some kills due to insufficient enemies number.
But for some reason they do it.

P.S. Played few times with Recursion Tracker on; I was shocked about most of the (dead) VS k/d being ~0.3-0.6. And they were not low-BR only. Ofc it's dasanfall "true" k/d with no revives counted. But anyway I'd just drop the game if I was THAT bad. VS are OK with that lel.

as i wrote in the original post, emerald server is perfectly fine, the platoon and outfit leaders over there wont just go for the easy points most of the time, they go for the FUN fights, where we have a chance to make a difference as a platoon stopping a zerg without needing 70% to do so. and i am not blaming just one faction for the whole fight avoiding zerging, like i said in the post, it works every way around.
and sade, im not getting pissy about zerging, and what you say about an outnumbered group smashing a zerg to hell happens very regularly on the emerald server, AOD`ENIED lol.
drpapapenguin, enjoyable fights i can find. but when they realise they have equal pop and the fun is remotely challenging for them, they call in 96+

You sound like this one guy I know that when he played BF4 online he would drop from the server and call it lame or laggy or he would blame the other players game style for effecting his if his score was bad. But when he was on a server full of noobs and kicked their *** he would go one about how great the game is and the server lol!

He said he was like this because his magina hurt -- you sound just like him.

    I play on Cobalt.

Yes, at times, it can be a Zergfest, but I've been involved in some pretty exciting and close fought alerts, with the pops equal and all fronts pretty evenly contested.

When that is not the case, I can still enjoy myself doing whatever is needed to suit whatever the current situation...
  7. omfgweeee

I play on Miller too but i havent experienced whatever OP describes. My observation is that both TR and VS zerging NC all the time.
  8. DK22

cuz it's fun, maybe you to change up your play, it's a free for all, do what you like.

Wow, i read all this stuff and don get it - why people always complane? Zerg, OP TR hsrasser with vulcan-H, LMG Orion and no bullet drop for VS and etc.. Do you really mean its so bad? Im from Russia, we have Planetside 2 localization by Innova company - i prefer to shoot from gun in my leg than play on Innova servers. Its lagging, patch comes with month delay, you cant by weapon or something for permanent for certs if you are not member, only rent. Servers full of cheaters and schoolchildren's yelling in proximity, spamming in chat and taunt for each over - the hell must be look like this.

    WELP!
We got another extremely underwhelming update today!
    Getting tired of this...

No you dont. In 10 minutes you can get 1500-2000 exp setting gens and hacking terminals. Ribbons included. I can get that in less than 5 as a medic with some solid kills.

So... capturing territories is bad now ?

Listen, it's an objective based game. Each faction's goal is (let's make it simple) to have more territory than the others.

A 96+ vs 96+ stalemate in a biolab that drags on forever achieves NOTHING in terms of strategy (except maybe occupy a good part of the enemy side?) Sure it gives lotsa certs, but... the game is not about certs, right ?

If all we care about is FORCED balanced fighting, let's have only one map (eg: Indar) and reduce it to 3 territories. Put a warpgate at Ti Alloys, one at the Crown and the 3rd one at Ceres Hydro. Remove all the rest.

You'll have balanced 3-way fighting 24/24 with no sneaking around...

I do enjoy and appreciate watching a tank shell waste a guy unexpectedly while I'm shooting it out with him. Conversely, it's nice when tankers soften the squishies on the way into buildings. It's almost like teamwork :) :)

i am currently on vacations from the frontline, enjoying myself on a vanu craftworld where war hasnt arrived yet..

that means, i am not playing at the moment and rather waiting for new content to arrive, even though i am certain it might take some time until that happens. then again, the release of a shiny new weapon like the promised anti-materiel sniper would suffice and make me log on again
  15. Pokebreaker

Not doubting that at all. Was referring to the zerg experience from the non-leader's perspective.
