Why did the bolt catch go extinct?

Supercapacitors. I doubt the NC have excelled farther in long lasting super capacitor technology than the technologically superior VS.

Newton's third law. Even if magnetically hovering in a vacuum, there is always a reaction force when accelerating an object.

What kind bargain brand sporting rifles have you used? all my ar-15s never fail to catch the bolt and feed smooth, my FN SCAR (the 2ed reason I picked NC was because the rifles reminded me of my glorious SCAR) sends that massive jack hammer of a bolt carrier into battery every time and all my pistols send the slide back into battery without fail. It has made me lazy when using my AK and m1 garand/carbine

Someone isn't cleaning there firearms after every use.

Perhaps the charge up time you mentioned is why NC fire rates are lower on average, a quick recharge after each bullet gets fired until the next one is ready. This could also explain why NC's fast firing weapons don't share the 167 damage model: faster recharge makes smaller magnetic force makes you need bullets with smaller mass for the same velocity

As for flash, either the magnetic device provides a lot of light on it's own, or (using our favorite excuse) the whole thing is powered by nanites which we all know produce a hell of a lot of light

G3A3 and G36, and it's not about having a fun afternoon at the range. Wading through the mud for 10 hrs before engaging in a firefight tends to clog up the mechanism, especially on the POS G36.
  5. Nextic

    G36 = bargain brand.
G3A3 ever jamming, boy wut are you doing to your glorious battle rifle?
I hike for days with my ARs or SCAR strapped to my side and never have an issue, I have defaulted to my AK for wandering the bush now simply because most of my shots are taken at 80 yrds and I tend to trust 7.62x39 more for dropping durr even though 5.56 has been proven to be more then powerful enough.

You cant beat those belgian waffles and if you cant be bothered to flip your dust cover up on your AR when not in use you have no one to blame but yourself when it jams.

    1. What if the "cases" are actually little "single use" batteries attached to the round intended to power magnets in the guass rail.
    2. Frictionless does not equal massless. The acceleration of mass, if not properly countered, creates some recoil.
    3. Good question. o_O What say you T-Ray?

DICE animates empty chamber reloading differently than round chambered reloading, the animation results in a different reload speed.
These animations determine the fast and slow reload speeds, not some balance guideline.

SOE animates empty chambers without bolt catches and artificially extends the length of the bolt racking in order to meet some asinine balance guideline, resulting in pathetically slow grandma reload animations. (empty mag bolt action reloads LUL)
Or in the case of the revolvers, if you reload with 2 or 1 rounds left, super-pro reload speed animations.

... Why is the concept of a fictitious gun in a fictitious universe during a fictitious war on a fictitious planet with fictitious technology being debated?

    No.

Equip a silencer on either the Magshot or the Rebel, then watch as casings fly out when you fire.

    Mind. Blown.
  11. Nextic

    Thats a really smart insight!

I would like who ever is in charge of lore to verify if the gauss rifle is caseless or cased with gauss enhancement. As it stands im going with caseless the majority of NC guns do not expel brass.
  12. Vinakis

While the lore has changed between Planetside 1 and Planetside 2, I always assumed that the NC gauss weapons were simply gauss assisted, not fully gauss operated.

The reasoning behind this, in Planetside 1 the Gauss Rifle used the same standard ammunition that the TR's Cycler and the Common Pool Punisher assault rifles used. I can't however remember whether or not the Gauss Rifle actually expelled casings in Planetside 1.

That said, unless an official source says something about it, we'll never know for sure. My previous example with the sidearms only goes to show that it's pretty inconsistent in Planetside 2.
  13. TheMercator

As far as I know, plate armor was superior to chains, because it was actually cheaper to produce after hammermills were founded in the 14th century.
  14. The Shermanator

    I don't think so, Tim.

Planetside 2 has jet-powered, VTOL capable, multi-role aircraft, for one.
Planetside 2 has regenerating infantry shielding.
Planetside 2 connects all soldiers to a digital battlespace via a GPS map with real-time updates to known enemy unit movements, and local friendly movements.
    Planetside 2 has PhysX.

This all being said, there are some trivial WWII features I kind of wish were in-game.

Usable tank gunner optics with range markers.
Faster bullet velocities to encourage more long-range shoot outs.
Coaxial armaments on vehicles besides the ESF.

    so on and so forth...
  15. Hatesphere

This just in, world wars conducted entirely without physics!

Actually in terms of killing power our weapon developments have taken a backslide since WW2. Everything has become about logistics(Smaller caliber ---> Lighter ---> Average soldier can carry more) and being "humane".

Of course, super-heated plasma hasn't been used in warfare yet so the jury's out on how bad that kills people.
  17. Vinakis

No doubt superheated plasma kills them very, very good.
  18. Wobberjockey

we, of the VS have been studying this. we present a video of our findings.

looks like plasma kills things dead, jim.
