Why aren't we allowed to hear enemies proximity chat?

Battlefield Modern Combat had this, it was pretty kool. You could hear what the other people were saying to their teammates and freak them out by randomly talking to them.
This would be great for infiltrators.

The only problem is it gives away your position since the closer you get to the source the clearer it is.

Actually I would like this back in the form of a cert-able ability either for Infiltrator or common pool; make it a thousand certs so people don't whine about their precious feelings. Would be a great asset for the cloaker who's found his way into the middle of enemy ops for sure.

If they allowed that, you'd have a bunch of school yard gangsta wannbes all screaming race hate an filth at each other all day.

Just make it something you can turn off or on at will. That nips most of the abuse issues in the bud.

I was heart broken yesterday to find out BRTD have not been able to hear the music we have been playing during our battles. We manged to beat them in a rather tough fight for the last hex on esamir the other day involving a charge to the dragon ball z.

It made it that much more magical.

You can hear the enemy spotting (useful tip if you're alone, "enemy infiltrator spotted" tends to mean it's time to run), so proximity chat would make sense.

That said, I rarely hear anything useful over proximity chat - the only time I use it is to tell the HA to stop standing in front of my AV turret. This naturally rarely has any affect so they land up getting nuked anyway...

Recently I saw a player on Miller vs esamir warpgate just standing there over proximity just saying the shortened slang for homosexual. Over abd over again.

Now for all I know he could still be there. Or perhaps he was looking to hook up.

The potential for that abuse between empires is best avoided. I especially don't want to know about prepubescent kids with a ***** fetish standing inside or outside spawn rooms.

God please no, players are already bad enough at communicating, no need to add a penalty

<Hijack> Can we PLEASE make spotting only be heard by your own faction? I mean, what the hell kind of gameplay mechanic is "press to display enemy affinity/healthbar and announce your pressence to every enemy within 50m"!?
  9. Sempars

Because I have a Full face Helmet. Why would you hear my radio coms. duh!
  10. gavinbrindstar

    It's only sporting.
  11. SharpeShooter

all one has to do is turn proximity off as the default! and then if people want to hear proximity they can turn it on!
  12. Olek

What if you could at least hear the chat thats used with the "V" key?
Or even if somebody uses chat in the proximity to you they could pop up on the radar?
  13. Tasogie

heh I kill so many "so called Snipers" because of that. They stnad on hilltops just spamming it, it would be funny if it wasnt so sad.
  14. Udnknome

I'm guessing you don't read the /yell chat that pops up.

I agree with most of the poster's here, having enemy prox would be worse.
  15. Korimer

I want it just long enough to say the Boondock Saints prayer before capping an unsuspecting Infiltrator in the back of the head with my Rebel.
  16. SgtBreastroker

Most people rarely use Proximity chat for the correct reasons.

    Refer to video.

  17. SpcFarlen

Play Call of Duty on Xbox and youll understand why very quickly.
  18. Mekhazzio

You should never penalize someone for wanting to communicate with their teammates.

Anything that gets more high pitched children on the microphone I am severely against, at least I can repeatedly team kill and mute them right now, but if they were on the opposite team it would mean you have to go to the voice list and find there name, too hard in the middle of a battle.

I sincerely think you might have some form of autism.
