Why are there so many NC UP threads?

And I'm an Australian who's done the same. The general ignorance of Americans when it comes to WW2 drives me insane, and I'm not the one who bought up American military history in reference to a video game.
  2. Sen7rygun

He edited the spelling when I pointed it out.
  3. Sen7rygun

Do you mean to say that WW2 consisted of more than Pearl Harbor, the Normandy landing, a long coffee break and a couple of nukes being dropped on japan!?

Iraq? Got to work with some Aussies when I was there. Great guys.

They never sold arms to the Axis powers, I have no idea where you're getting that idea. This idea that America somehow supported both sides is ********, they never supplied anyone but the Allied Powers. They also didn't "wait for a winner to appear", they retaliated when the Axis finally attacked them. And that was December 7th 1941, not 1940 lol.

Also, I'm not sure where you get your claim that Americans liked Hitler. They just flat out didn't care very much about someone who wasn't attacking them. When they were attacked by the Japanese, Hitler joined in and declared war so then they were motivated.

I really don't understand this anti-American ******** you guys are spewing. WW2 was the second-last war (the last being Korea) where the US was fighting for an attainable and noble goal rather than because of some political scheme, and you can't even give them credit for that?

BTW, I am NOT American, lol.
  6. TheShrapnelKing

If we are not at war then there is no reason to restrict trade for private businesses just because the government has decided they don't like the regime. That is the reason Cuba is still a ****hole is because the US still embargos it and prevents any kind of US influence there.

But, if you can PROVE that Iran funds people actively fighting the US right now then you have grounds to ban trade with them.

And no, I'm not American. I just haven't bought into the "US is the most evul thing evar" bandwagon.
  7. WTSherman

Would you prefer that the US and the rest of the allies "honorably" sat by the sidelines while the Germans and Soviets divvied up Europe between them?

Or, since collateral damage is such a dealbreaker for you, would you prefer that the US and the Allies "honorably" marched out with sword and shield to be ground under the tracks of the Germans' tanks? Of course, medieval warfare wasn't nearly as chivalrous as it was cracked up to be either.

War is hell. Even when you're on the right side, you have to do some rather unsavory things to make sure the other guy dies and you don't. Things aren't always going to go as planned either: people you wanted to kill are going to live, and people you wanted to live are going to die. Some people won't follow orders, others will follow them all too well. It is only our ability to accept the necessities of war and see the best intentions even in our worst actions that allows us, allows anyone, to do what it takes to win.

That means that things are going to happen that aren't particularly noble, kind, or graceful. Things that a person may not be proud of. Sometimes they may wish they could have done it differently, others given the choice they would still do it again. Things will happen that cause armchair generals decades later to sneer about how they would have done it better, thanks to their convenient knowledge of how it played out in the end.

It's easy to sit here, over seventy years later, and talk as if you would have done better. To say you wouldn't have bombed that city, wouldn't have used that weapon, wouldn't have fought that battle, or wouldn't have signed that deal. It's easy to disparage the courage and sacrifice of those who fought because by your estimation their foresight didn't measure up to your hindsight.

It's easy to berate them about all the things they could have done better, that you would have done different, or that you just don't think measure up, rather than be grateful that those people were willing to go through all that, to do those things, so that you could sit here and type about how morally inferior you think they are. I suppose it helps you feel high and mighty, that you're so much better than those backwards, ignorant, barbaric Americans.

Though I suppose you believe that Australia could have handled Japan on their own, eh? Like I said, it's easy to play armchair general seventy-plus years later.

Regarding the actual topic of the thread, the reason is that the NC have quite a few things that are genuinely UP. The Enforcer C85 Modified being the most glaringly obvious among them. Thousands of game-hours of statistics and the WDS results easily back this up.

Afghan. Missed the big trip to the sandpit, but I heard only good things about you lads. Marines or Army?
  9. Silver Fox

Army infantry all the way. 3/2 SBCT (Stryker) for the deployment.

I missed my first unit's deployment to Afghan because I PCS'd, and missed my second unit's tour in Afghan because I was med-boarded two months before they left. I was hoping to see both theaters, but oh well.

By the way, after spending a good deal of time on the range with the F88, I would take that on patrol any day over an M4. That thing is beastly.
  10. TheShrapnelKing

I gotta ask the vets here - does it feel like you're accomplishing jack **** over there? Because Afghanistan's been a warzone for the better part of a century and no one's ever pacified it, so at some point everyone's going to leave like the Brits and Soviets did.
  11. Nintyuk

Righty In the long and short of things, No.
It is physically Impossible for a entire country of individuals to be 'evil'. You need to separate the leadership from the populace as even in Germany it's self there were people un-supportive of the regime at the time for example what about the hundreds of thousands of Germans who voted for some one else in the elections?

    On topic:
I believe as many people have already stated that the NC at the moment have a list of minor failings across the board that add up to a general under-performance. It may be because the NC have the most distinct weapon design compared to the other factions that leads to it being very good in certain areas and falling down in others. While the Vanu and TR have much greater flexibility and have had empire specific weaponry that assists them in areas that they lacked before.
  12. Silver Fox

I can't say anything about Afghan, but in Iraq we certainly did. Until the politicians screwed it up at least.

    Afghan is totally different though.
  13. Dingus148

2nd Bn, RAR. The F88 is strange. It's good for patrolling and it's pretty good in the jungle due to its plastic components. The twin trigger pull makes it beastly when you're lead scout and need to dump a panic mag, but the stock optics are horrible and the lack of a hold-open release really holds it back under pressure. I'd take the M4 for urban work any day of the week, if only because it ways 2kg and it's far easier to see the bolt through the ejection port. My baby is the HK417 though, and I'd take a short barrel 417 over either :p Seeing as the thread has completely derailed, where did your unit end up?
  14. Dingus148

No, we accomplished nothing really. They didn't commit enough troops to do the job in the first place and when we had just started to fix the place, our governments decided to pull out. All the guys that died have essentially died for nothing, because it'll go back to being worse than it was before we got there. In order to win there we needed to convince the locals that the warlords weren't coming back. We didn't need to win their love, we just needed to show them that they didn't need to prepare for war, that their kids could grow up safe if they worked for it. As it was, Pakistan was sponsoring fighters to keep the country unstable (seeing a West-friendly government as a potential Indian ally) and Iran was funneling weapons up through Kandahar. With things like reforming their police to work like the old village guardians, we were starting to force the Taliban back. That's why they started their "green-on-blue" program, getting traitors in the ANA to kill us...their supposed allies. They're preparing for a big propoganda win, in the same way the NVA "won" Vietnam. On paper, the NVA got creamed. But they knew they just had to win the propoganda war, because if a democracy's people lose the will to fight, they'll stop. (The hippy movement certainly didn't help here.)

The problem with a war is people expect it to be over by Christmas. People need to know that if you want to do any good in a war, you need lots of time. In a guerrilla war, you need even more time.

That being said, Afghan wasn't always a hell-hole. In the 60s/70s, Afghan was quite stable (if still very tribal) and Kabul was voted one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Brits fought a similar war there, but saying "noone has ever pacified it" is kind of ignorant. The Khanate (the Timurid Khanate, if memory serves) had quite an empire and they helped pacify Afghan. The Silk Road used to run through Kabul too. It's a hard country to hold, but mostly because everyone that's ever tried to hold it has had their grip sabotaged by other countries. (Brits had Russia, USSR had the US, US had Pakistan/Iran.)

The title of this thread, by it's very nature, seems to rule out the possibility of NC being underpowered.
What if the NC is under-powered?

If something is largely believed to be UP, why wouldn't there by a lot of "____ is UP" threads?!!

Lol never got to play with a 417, that must be an awesome weapon.

That two-stage trigger was weird to get used to. I can definitely see why it's a good panic button. 3 round burst on the M4s is largely wasted, because we never use it. It's faster to just crank off rounds in semi than it is to flip the selector switch when you're already engaged. I loved how easy the F88 was to hold on target, with all the weight behind the firing hand.

We were in Diyala Province, north and east of Baghdad. My battalion was at FOB Normandy, 18 miles off the Iranian border, but we did missions all over Diyala.

    Where were you guys?
  17. skyN3T

Well, my mistake then. I just thought because you referred to the US many times as "we". Just like here:

Does not matter though, however I think you misunderstood me as well, because I never even offended the country. I was just trying to get some facts straight... If you care to read all my posts (I admit all of them are absolutely off topic) you might get my point. I, for one, am sure, that I'm not on that wagon, I'm sorry if it felt like that.

I really should stop derailing this topic, as others already taken over that job :)

    One final note:
WTSherman in post #94 has it all straight, and is quite sincere. Judging by his post he understands that nothing is black-and-white.

I was referring to the state of Naz1 Germany. If I was to refer to everyone in Naz1 Germany, I would have said "The Germans were evil." I didn't say that.
  19. Dingus148

Oruzgan, just up the Helmand Rud into the Kush. It's no Koringal, but as the birthplace of Mullah Omar it's kind of Talib heartland. It's about as dangerous as some of the more dangerous parts of Khost. I operated out of a patrol base for most of my trip. Don't know what I can say due to some interesting dudes working in/around that area...you know how OPSEC and the internet can be. Needless to say I learned a lot working with your people ahahaha.

Once you get used to the F88 it's certainly nice, but it does have its flaws. I really want to test out the Tavor, because it looks to be the evolution of the design. I think in this case, seeing as we each like each other's rifles, it's a case of us trying something new and seeing the advantages without seeing the flaws. "I tried a TR/NC weapon and OMG it is sooooo OP". See? Our conversation is now back on topic :p
  20. Silver Fox

Lol I like it. Can the Tavor be commonpool?

And yeah I wouldn't push the OPSEC rules too far before Afghan's over. Don't need to have any more Facebook episodes.
