Unlike TF2, there's no quite clear explanation of who the voice you hear over the intercoms is when you lock down a base or capture a continent. Who is the Commander of the Conglomerate? The General of the Republic? The Pope of the Sovereignty? What is that mysterious voice telling us to clear out of that restricted area?
Their identity must be kept secret to prevent assassination. Vanu knows I'd whack that stupid useless b!tch constantly telling me to stop sucking so bad when it's 1v5. Or better yet, "pull some weight out there" while I'm the only one fighting for the objective.
^THIS! the NC "Announcer" is the only reason i have the dialogue volume muted, "WE'RE LOSING THE FACILITY!" "WE NEED THIS FACILITY!" "STEP IT UP!" "YOU'VE LOST THE FACILITY!" i lost the facility?! ME?! what the hell were you doing while i was getting zerged?! get out of your chair and get your annoying, lazy, whiny **** over here!
AFAIK the highest authority within the TR falls to the Overwatch - probably a council of the highest ranking officers. It does have a glorious totalitarian & almighty feel to it.
At a best guesstimate they're probably some of the original developers and support staff. Now is there any chance of trading the NC one for say the VS? He seems to be a bit more reasonable when it comes to a handful of troops trying to hold off a full platoon plus independents.
I dunno who they are, but I'd like to be able to turn them off without turning off player voicelines. Headphones have helped so much with locating talkative enemies, cloakers, or talkative (read: bad) cloakers. Don't want to give that up of course, but I'd rather not get screamed at about how "WE CANT LET THITH FATHILITY FALL TO THE ENEMY" while I'm spawncamped.
I **** you not the first time that i heard the NC announcer was when I was losing a base 2/12 against some BR ~100 VS ghostcappers on my fresh toon and suddenly "You can start trying anytime now!"
Papa Vanu, Angry Rebel Lady and Sargent Major is what my friends and I call them. Also major +1 for all the NC rebel lady hate. "Feel free to fight for real any time now!" as we're getting our spawn room shelled by air and tanks, there are half a dozen MAXes squatting on point and the enemy is overpopping by 80%. How about you get down here and show us how it's done, lady. While Sgt.Major can be a bit of a drama queen too with his "You have failed the Republic" , he is leagues better than "Pull your weight out there."
