When is armour and air getting nerfed?

That or buff infantry a lot. Currently infantry is just there to provide something for the armour and air guys to kill, thats a lot of fun for infantry. You can see how OP armour and air (and air is OP in comparision to armour) by the sheer amount of it thats on every map and the fact that most people dont seem to want ot step out the warpgate if their favorite OP mode of transport is on cooldown (combine that with bases that allows armour and air to take and camp the spawns of almost all bases)

Needs rebalancing and no the stupid fix to air lock on missles isnt a good fix. Forcing infantry to choose between having a small chance against air OR armour while not forcing either air or armour to have a massively in their favour chance against pretty much anything is stupid.

And the deterent arguement is a load of BS, as a deterent is meant to deter, not allow them to fly in(or in armours case roll in, but thats harder - normally they will just snipe form the crest of a hill) kill whatever target they want to kill then take 50% while running away to repair and repeat.

Also the air is needed to fight air is more BS, this is a game, everything should have a counter - if the only counter is itself then its blatently OP for a game. RL doesnt matter as that RL and not a game.

So exactly what would you call balance? Tanks unable to kill infantry? Infantry able to kill tanks easily?

All I see is people wanting air and vehicles nerfed but never say exactly what they expect of the infantry.

I say leave them the same, as they are tanks, and air after all. Instead increase the costs. That has teh scondary effect of placing a real premium on territory. It also would make people take a little better care of their vehicles. Right now you get a lightning, it gets blown up...no biggie jump in a prowler, that gets blown up? Back to the lightning, you always got the resources, so who cares?

I'm not sure how anyone can think infantry are underpowered. Are you just sitting at overrun bases and getting spawn camped, then only falling back in time to get spawn camped at another base?

Infantry are very strong. All the classes* get incredible anti-vehicle tools. A single heavy assault trooper can instantly remove half of a heavy tank's health with one rocket to the rear, and it's not too hard to get into that situation because tanks are constantly forced to move through terrain that makes them vulnerable in just about all areas on the current maps.

Edit: correction: all the classes but infiltrator. Maybe all the "vehicles are OP" people play infiltrators?

    $5 on mains Infiltrator.

Infantry can counter everything when used right, just not 1v1.

I believe the devs sort of went for this rock paper scissors thing, with each option having it's own little sub rock paper scissors.

Tanks beat Infantry. Infantry beat Air, Air beats Tanks. But you also have Tanks that can beat Air, Air that can beat infantry, and Infantry that can beat tanks, but these options don't have as high success rates. It all comes down to how coordinated the enemy team is, compared to yours. If they have 15 people in liberators shelling your base, and not a single one of you got a reaver, AA max, or any other form of AA, you deserve to get killed over and over.

Infantry isn't meant to be the be all end all option. If the infantry don't adapt, and use the proper weapons (assuming you've bought/played long enough to unlock) then it's completely understandable for them to be killed 15 times in a row to the same thing, and whine about it all the way back to the warpgate. The real problem is coordination. Coordination is overpowered.

Right but when there is no limiting factor for vehicles then the number of tanks can always be raised. For example, let's say we each have 5 players. I get a tank, and so you say well that's cool, I'll use two HA against that, no prob. Well let's say I get 5 tanks for my 5 players. Now what are your choices? You can't simply say Oh well for every tank you simply need a couple infantry, because at some point the math simply won't work out!

Maybe it can't be changed at this point, but this is a vehicle game foremost in my opinion.
  9. Jagdgeschwader

If your enemy is sending that many tanks at you why are you still trying to beat the problem with infantry?
  10. Eyeklops

Infantry vs Vehicle balance is OK. The big problem is maps that allow farming of infantry by vehicles. Infantry need more places to fight and be safe from vehics. Too many bases allow infantry to be tank farmed, and the bases where tank farming isn't possible get Liberator farmed. Bio-dome is getting old.

I really think that better map design is the answer and trying to fix this issue with damage/armor buffs/nerfs will only create new, and possibly bigger, problems.
  11. BadLlama

Infantry come in mass unstoppable quantities. Maybe you should try getting a bunch of people to go all Red Army on those tanks and suicide wave into them with your rocket launchers out. You will all receive a lot of death but all those Tanks will die.
  12. Krall

thats just not an option in game (unless you massively outnumber - something like your force has 5 times the resource point exspenditure compared to the cheap *** plane) infantry can make air run off after its divebombed its target and destroyed it and force them to repair in a valley somewhere to come back and repeat the same attack again.
  13. Dankshasta

Ummmm? I'm not. I'm merely pointing out how the balance would play out. I agree with you that in my example the correct thing to do would be bring vehicles. It's very similiar to the "don't bring a knife to a gun fight" Additionally with the resource costs, and cooldowns this scenario could be expected to play out repeatedly.

Oh and vehicles come at mass unstoppable quantities as well, there are no real limiting factors with the cooldowns, or resource costs

    Soon. Very soon.

And PS2 will die within 6 months as well.

I guess this is my main problem with Inf v Arm. The maps all make it far to easy for Arm to engage and kill Inf. Almost all the bases allow Inf to be tank farmed, most allow the Arm to sit 500+ yards away and spam fire but also have clear LOS to anything trying to close the distance to them, which gives the feeling that Inf is just there to privde something for the Armour to kill.

And even the anti tank weapons on Arm allow them to easily kill Inf (yes yes i know in RL a tank shell would hurt but how about balancing it so it is as difficult for a tank with anti tank weapons to kill infantry as it is for Inf to kill tanks with anti tank weapons.
  16. Krall

Seriously the balanced solution to combat one type of vechile shouldnt be to match them with your own. in RL yes, in a game there should be a number of options not forcing you to fight fire with fire as the one and only option.

Atm Combined Arms in PS2 means bring Air, if you cant get that then Arm...oh and bring a sundy with 6 people in to cap the point so out Air and Arm boys dont have to get out. Fun times.

    For me:
The vast majority of deaths as infantry, are caused by enemy infantry. (edit: 2nd in this category is probably being run over by friendly vehicles!)
The vast majority of deaths as ground vehicle occupant, are caused by enemy vehicles.
The vast majority of deaths as aircraft passenger/pilot, are caused by me flying into the ground :).

IMHO it's working as intended. If you are being repeatedly killed by vehicles, you're doing something wrong.
  18. BengalTiger

Lure the tanks into a built up area.
Destroy one or two, respawn, destroy another one or two, respawn...
Repeat until there are 5 burning wrecks.
5 enemies have just wasted resources and now have to wait before they can try tank rushing again.

Tanks can't capture bases from 500 meters away, those enemies will have to come close at one point or another.
The drivers will also have to park and leave their tanks if they are to capture indoor terminals, allowing them to get ambushed and their tanks to get destroyed as target practice.

Infantry is what wins over bases, tanks and planes are just support. Going the other way around is bound to fail.
  19. Gypsycream

Exactly, or even better just get 2 LA with C4 and 1 HA to finish anything off... Unless you're getting spawn camped hard you will kill any number of tanks, just use your cover well and expect to die some... Air is another matter, but hopefully the rebalance in the next patch will sort that out..
Most people in this thread are just having l2p issues, tbh.

I don't know maybe, spawn one base across with a friend, pull heavies, and take a couple of flashes back, and kill the tanks as they focus on the spawn room, you could even bring a engineer to give you ammo, or a Sunderer with stealth and resupply there. Just make sure when the start to get wind of what is going on, you move your location.
