Whats this? Am I just unlucky?

    Why no hits?

Compared to this? Skip ahead to 1:34

  2. RockPlanetSide2

That is PS2 100% of the time, walking back and forth is basically the best thing you can do in the game, get used to it.
  3. guerrillaman

But why no hits? I don't get it. Only 4 or 5 bullets hit him.
  4. FateJH

You did get hits. You also missed a non-significant number of times as well. After a certain point, your reticle is just dancing around your opponent's outline.
  5. RockPlanetSide2

Your cross hairs are all over the place and his shield is up. Not sure what you want to hear... he was strafing and you were missing.. a lot.
  6. guerrillaman

In a frame by frame look of just the first 10 bullets, 7 the crosshair were on him, one hit.
    • Up x 1
  7. RockPlanetSide2

His HA over shield was up... maybe they did hit and just did no damage... that is not shown to you on the death screen. If he had Adrenaline or Nanite Mesh up your shots were just absorbed.
  8. guerrillaman

Ok, so if I hit and nanite mesh is up, the red hit markers wont show up?
  9. RockPlanetSide2

Never noticed either way. But his shield clearly wears off the end.
  10. guerrillaman

    Yeah I don't know either.

I counted the bullets from frame to frame and there should have been 11 maybe 12 that hit him if we are going off the crosshair position at the time the bullets left the gun.
  11. RockPlanetSide2

You have to remember as well, PS2 is a laggy turd and you can't just go off of visuals.
  12. FateJH

The same way you occasionally feel multiple bullets as one huge lump of damage, you can also perceive damage feedback as one big lump of "hit." The hit marker (x) is the result of server validation getting back to your client, so they won't necessarily be timed 1:1 to you visually hitting him with the bullet. Matching bullet per bullet manually, meanwhile, guarantees no additional accuracy of results.

Accept that you did hit him, but then your recoil became too inaccurate for that initial gain to matter. There's not much else to learn reliably from this video.

(And, as I remind countlessly, never use the kill screen as a reliable source of information about what just happened to you.)
  13. guerrillaman

Yeah it just seems that my recoil and spread and bullet misses seems to be so much more than everyone else's who I watch online and I dont understand why. I've even turned my mouse to ZERO aimed and ZERO sensitivity, and it will not stay on the target like BOSS's does above.
  14. Sazukata

    1. You didn't burst fire at all. That was the exact engagement range where it's most important.
    2. Your crosshairs veered off a lot (it happens, I don't claim to be any better). Dunno if you had a bad moment or your optic choice might not have been ideal for the specific weapon and/or scenario.

In the second video... That's just yet another stat-focused player farming bad/unaware players one at a time with an advantaged class and compiling the good parts into a video. Not something that impresses me. I don't care to unlock the Betelgeuse, but I hear it has really good recoil mechanics. With practice and a good framerate, headshot chaining is not totally far-fetched with stable rifles.
  15. Bearded Wall

As other have said you didnt burst fire. Which makes your aim progressively worse and worse.

Also you are fighting at a much longer range than the guy in that other video.

And hes getting headshots you werent....

    etc. etc.
  16. Weylin

Thing is, after like 5 shots, the bullets don't go anywhere near your sights so it's just a gamble at that point.

I'm kinda puzzled because he was using a chaingun, which does not ADS very well and has to wind-up so you don't burst fire it.
  17. FateJH

It does have many many (many) more bullets that his Vanu weapon and the CoF only blooms slowly and only so much. All he has to do is outlast his opponent's puny magazine and hope his opponent doesn't use a medkit and the attrition war is his for the taking. Besides, you only avoid bursting the T7 if you want to take advantage of the higher firerate.
  18. Chubzdoomer

Holding down the trigger is what hurt you the most. If you'd fired in prolonged bursts, you probably would've won that engagement.
  19. guerrillaman

You all talking about the burst.

Under most circumstances I would have won this engagement by round 30 so I wasnt worried about it. I was just surprised it didn't happen.

Ive noticed this tends to happen after about an hour of playing. Shots miss more often, and I start to die more frequently. Every time it seems.
