So members got to buy the hornets for 1 sc, and now I have these hornets for my ESF, but I don't really get what they are designed for. Keeping the reticule on your target after you fire seems intuitive and dangerous. Is there something I'm not understanding about hornet missiles? What do they have over the lolpods?
nothing They were supposed to be Ap rockets that are laser guided. Like Arial ravens but the problem is that their max range is so short and the damage they do is underwhelming. there is no purpose for them ATM
Use them as an alternative to rocketpodding whilst hovering. With these, you can remain much more mobile and do strafing runs like a jet rather than becoming a helicopter.
You can unload them very quickly and accurately, allowing you to do quick strafing runs without exposing yourself too much to rockets and flak.
Ok thanks guys. Lolpods do take time to fire as well, and I'm not particularly great with them. Maybe now that they are fixing input lag (major issue for me for months) I can keep the laser on stuff.
If the rockets where faster i would use them with racer to pick of tanks from behind...but sadly it won't work with current speed. :/
Nothing really - they're still rather slow moving so you can even run into your own Hornets if you're running racer frame. You can't hover unless you want to get killed, so you're stuck using them in strafing runs, but now you can't break off during a strafing run until they've actually hit the target. They're just good for a laugh and challenge, but lolpods are fire and forget, and lolpods have more damage potential per volley. Hopefully someday Hornets will actually get a buff that makes them good at something, cause currently they're more a novelty item you use just cause you want Auraxiums and such.
Hopefully. I mean I bought them for 1 sc, but its all just cute fun if they aren't good for anything. I sure wouldn't have purchased them based on their mechanics.
On that belief shouldn't the Duster be completely free?. Btw bought it with station cash so i could troll gullable "zeph"(duster) gunners on all three factions. With the new warpgate damage bug if they try to jump out by the time they realize what they got themself into they'll die from fall damage.
kinda hilarious that you can run into your own rockets. They should carry your momentum at the very least
I really wonder about the new weapons for the Lib - they seem to be on the category of GD-40F Ranger kind of bad. It doesn't look like anyone's gotten enough kills to show up on the dasanfall vehicle board as a user of those weapons (I think they have some minimum before they start tracking somewhere like 60-80 kills?). Although the Walker itself only has a few users so perhaps over time the Hyena numbers might go up. Can you really kill with the Duster?
Their purpose is to shoot yourself in the tail because they travel too slowly, while also having terrible range. They're just not very well--implemented overall. They are pretty good against MAXes, though.
People will start making it on the leaderboards with the Hyenas in the next week, IMO. They are OK, but leading past short range is pretty intensive. Additionally, most of the people who use them regularly and understand them, would rather be piloting or on the belly gun. I have the Duster. The best way to explain it is to think of the Saron right after they added the bloom mechanic. It seems to go from 0-100% CoF after one shot, and takes about .5sec or so to settle. Instead of the spam cannon I hoped for, I find it best to play it like a semi-auto, taking careful, precise shots, like the current Saron at very long range. To put it bluntly, taking this weapon is suicide in the current game, you cannot defend yourselves from air with it, you cannot fire fast enough to kill armor, and if you get close enough to actually 'carpet bomb' with it, you're going to get ripped by dumbfires. If I could get my SC back, I probably would, because it's garbage and serves no niche where it isn't severely outclassed by the existing options.
I think the damage is in the right place. They are rather unwieldly however because of the fact that you have to swing the entire aircraft around in order to guide them. Giving them the ability to be guided in freelook should fix this though.
They seem ok at killing empty base turrets, not sure about anything that moves or is shooting back at me.
Upgrading your enemies' gear. I hear you can do it Now. Also, they have massive alpha damage. If you are precise enough, you can dive in, nuke something, and boost away before it can react.
