I do realize im going to get flamed for this but im frustrated to hell with the state of things .

Whats the point of heavy assault class , maybe its me and i assumed there suppose to be somewhere between max and light assault , hard to kill move forward and engage the enemy take alot of damage before the die , handy in pushes .

As it stands i love playing the class but i feel so under powered , full nanoweave and resist or nano shield , i die to medics and engineers from distances i can hardly hit them with in half a second from assault rifles and carbines , snipers who just got a huge *** buff now have super sniper riles and cloaks that are complete if they dont move now 2 shot me even with a shield up , im not talking head shots im talking straight to the body from somewhere ive thought i cleared , i realize i might suck , but i feel like a wet noodle lately , so many infiltrators with the hunter cloak and smgs or xbows or now the new sniper rifles with burst mowing you down

I get it i get to carry a rocket launcher and lmg , but lmg's seem so weak compared to other guns out there

It feels to me like we use to be able to take a bit more punishment before we died now i feel like a sacrificial lamb , it assumed we were front line troops not fodder for other classes

Feel free to flame away , ill play a heavy as long as i play this game , just doesn't seem as fun as it use to be

The point of heavy assault is to assault things, heavily. If you feel weak as an HA, honestly, the only option left for you is to learn to play.

I don't think you'll get flamed, I think you'll receive a bunch of encouragement and tips to improve your play.

Sounds like you should work on your situational awareness first, that will get better with experience, watching the mini map, paying attention to where your team mates die, then you'll have a better idea when to stop spiriting everywhere and be in a firing position for when they come into view.

The only three classes that actually matter in this game are max medic and engineer.

That said you should not be dying constantly to any classes other than maxes with the heavy cause he has that nifty shield.
  5. Tommyp2006

The heavy assault can dish out and take more damage than any other class in the game except for the max, that is the point in it.

    Some questions:
    1. Which faction do you play?
    2. Which weapons are you using?
    3. What is your playstyle?
    4. When do you activate your shield?
    5. Why are you using Nanoweave Armor with Resist shield?

I used to think the same. Then I realized I should probably be using my shield.

I feel your pain, and your right. There is none, LMG's and rockets both are horrible. The ESW's have all been nerfed to compensate the damage to other classes/factions. Yes I'm one of those Hunter/SMG types, and even I find that most all heavy's drop the same as the others. That is someone's idea of game balance. Each class is different, each brings something special to the table, except the HA. Their durability is questionable at best. As for taking out armor, I dropped a Mag the other day with an EMP nade on their mines.

The original Planetside allowed the HA two wepons of any type... I can only surmise that in the drive to be better or different many functional things are left out of the game. I say bring back the two wep combo's for HA. Imagine... LMG/Shotgun, LMG/Battle Rifle, Two different types of Rockets.... the possibilities.

Personally, I'd like to see the Voice Over's they have include stuff like "I need a Gunner!" and some of the other pharases from the original PS. Most of the time two guys never needed chat, whole conversations done in VO.

HA is the only class capable of killing aircrafts, HA can take the second biggest AV total damage with him (ammo belt+launcher+C4s), HA is the only class capable of killing vehicles from long range while staying mobile, HA wins every gunfight on every range except very long ones versus infiltrators, HA is the most durable class ingame due to overshield, HA has the best weapons ingame being LMGs - biggest magazine size, high accuracy and DPS.

Your problem is a l2p issue - play better and you'll see how HA can actually destroy almost everything.

Killing aircraft ? lock on missile launcher that takes more shots than i can carry bye default , sure i can if i want to crap out my survivability , ill give you this one , but even tanks seem tougher these days and take a full 4 rockets and a grenade to kill ,

as for winning gunfights from any range ? lol i get shot bye medics and engineers from ranges that i cant keep a lmg spread even close to decent , i love getting 2 shot from ranges that are beyond my ability to even shot effectively back at , dont get me wrong i dont mind dying to snipers and i applaud head shot kills , that doesnt bother me

Durable my *** , either my lag is terrible but dual kills from 10feet with medics engineers or la , all the time , i dont mind when someone gets the drop on me , thats fair game but when i pop my shield and move into a room firing only to die at the same time as a medic or engineer or even the la it feels week

other thing ive noticed is lmgs seem to have less spread when your not using any sort of scope ? my imagination or something im missing ?

yes it could be me so i went a full nano shield and nanoweave for the small arms reduction and it still seems weak as

And at the moment playing vanu with a flare

Sound like you're using resist shield and turning it on after you get shot, swap to the default or adrenaline if you can kill stuff fairly fast.
Nano weave is pointless, use ASC or flak

Yes it takes long to kill an eircraft, you actually probably won't kill it, it will just leave, but still. Other classes don't have such opportunity. Or you can basically 1shot ESFs if they hover still with a stock launcher.

If you can't win a gunfight at any range but long ones - it's your problem. HA has huge advantage at this.
Talking about durability - I usually use spectre on my inf, it takes 3 bodyshots to kill a non-nanoweave target, while shielded HA takes 7 shots to take down, with a 10 bullets magazine. I can empty a full artemis clip into a HA and he'll still be alive.

The HA has this funny combination of having stun grenades and a rocket launcher, backed up by a machine gun.

Stun a MAX, fire a rocket, stun it again (the grenade bandoleer is funny), finish it with your machine gun.

i agree with you HA is to weak and to easy to kill rely almost nobody play HA anymore
its more snipers and more snipers with that we HA don't stand a change again so many because there every where

and its mostly a class that is good vs tanks and aircraft but with so many snipers you cant do your work for your team
because every few seconds you get head shot and stile try to pull out your launcher

and it funny pll will say don't stand stile but even if am running they stile hit you in the head
because there so many its hard to hide from them

i say also to SOE make then inume to head shots when our shield is up
so its not rely to OP

so we can do our work better and not get shot every few seconds

i was today in a small room i was the only 1 with my phoenix ( rocket launcher )to try to hit the tanks but rely nobody will say i switch to HA and help out -.- so we lose the fight hard

It's ironic because of bad grammar.

    1) Like with most classes, there is a weapon for every situation - certain weapons for long range, others for medium and short. Scopes are also important.
    2) Death is temporary, glory is eternal
    3) Do not run at the enemy / around corners like a lemming. You HA abilities and certifications are not meant to make you into ironman. Flanking is your friend.
    4) Do not sit right on the corner
    5) Tanks and ESF are best removed with the help of other HA or maxes. If you are alone against a vehicle then the point is to harass it until help arrives.

Try running around as heavy with a SMG. For some reson we can't pick up a carbine or assault rifle but we can use a smg.
Don't engage the enemy beyond 50 meters and you will wreck havoc on anything uner 50 meters.

You still have to deal with the hundreds of invisible snipers off course to actually get to the enemy but that is Planetside 2 for you.

I just bought a smg and most of the time I win playing as light assault against a heavy if the heavy does not have a smg. And I have poor aim. That is how good the (NS at least) smg is. Imagine what happens when you use a smg as Heavy; any other class without a smg is not even a challenge. (expect snipers off course but you shouldn't be out in the open anyway)
  18. Sharmanti

Well.. I think HA is quite capable.

I play LA, HA, Engi and occasionally Inifil. While playing LA I get my kills through flanking and nading people. As an engineer I sit behind cover and support friendlies with ammo/repairs while showering nades over the enemy and while I play HA I lock on tanks/aircraft or use cover to pop up and just annihilate everything while my shields are still up.

Only with HA do I regurarly choose to head on fight enemies. Especially in clutches such as by the biolab entrances and in very open areas, no other class has such versatility. And I can do tons of damage to the enemy team even if I don't kill tanks or aircraft. I just force them to repair or fly away.

If you can't win a fair fight vs any class as a HA then you're just bad. There's no problems with the class
  19. VogonPoetMaster

Play as medic and see if you do any better. If you do worse, which I think you will, then you know it's a l2p issue.

The trouble is, the way the resist armours got worked, they don't stack with the shield, so having the shield active often doesn't really actually reduce much more damage than a tier 5 nano/flak. I mostly just use the shield to mitigate physics/fall damage now. Add in the fact that you're playing an MMO in fights that can include over 50 players with a shield that barely lasts an encounter with 1 enemy and you have a massively redundant ability fit less for assaulting and more for defending.

As a HA i can drop more enemies faster with stronger medium range weapons whilst avoiding having my health eaten into. The trouble is the game doesn't seem to have that many medium engagements. It's either massive long range shelling or base spawn room ganking.

My suggestion is if you can't find a spot for your HA, try swapping out his primary for a shotgun/SMG or battle rifle (which slightly got buffed). Then you might find your niche playstyle working better for you.
