What stirs you to action?

This is pretty self-explanatory. When you're in-game, is there anything that you hear, see or do that causes your chest to tighten? To evoke faction loyalty? That drives you to become vastly more aggressive and bloodthirsty? Tell us all your nerdy secrets!

I was in a fight at Abandoned NS offices, tracers and explosions flying everywhere, people dropping left and right, and we had seconds to get the point or we would lose. It looked pretty hopeless; we were surrounded by Vanguards and three Sunderers, alongside dozens of infantry. We were being shelled heavily, and we were almost getting camped. Outnumbered 2:1, I prepared to redeploy up the lattice to get a tank. Right before hitting the button I hear Papa Vanu over the intercom:

"Vanu is with you! Do not falter!"

I have no reason why, but it made me so goddamn angry, it made me resent the people I was fighting so much that I immediately abandoned the redeploy. My chest felt so tight. With my fearsome engineer, I charged forwards and with the exception of some brave/crazy teammates, I nearly single-handedly stopped the NC from capturing the base, and before I fell, my other allies were right there with me picking up where I left off. We drove them back to Howling Pass, and eventually won.

I credit my actions to that single announcement, and it felt good. Damn good.

That's my story. Again, do you have something similar to this?

    Poonanners

I'll let another Waterson NC explain it.
  3. Paragon Exile

Poonanners is also on the Mattherson VS.

He's a riot, but I wish I knew how to get my voice like that :(
  4. Regpuppy

It like a parody of old radio effects and personalities. It's brilliant

Other than that, Waterson NC use to have a few good villains in the old days. Individually, Totalbiscuit wasn't a threat. But his army of followers was always a fun villain to fight. While I found him a bit arrogant, or at least how he potrayed himself on Youtube, he made things fun.

I was in a similar situation against the NC. It was dawn, and I was running towards an enemy MAX with my medic in a final suicide run, when suddenly Angry Radio TR Guy yelled "Give it your all!" at the same time as the MAX said, "Live free in the NC!"

    He had C-4 for breakfast.

I'm a pretty egoistic / egocentric player when it comes to motivation. I like creating my own personal rivalries. When a guy opens fire on me, I rarely let it slide, I make it my goal to find and kill him. But I wouldn't say it stirs me.

I can recall one similar story.

    That's pretty epic.

Every time I charge an NC MAX, I get riddle with buckshot :(

Yes! Let the hate flow through you!

I do the same thing when I see Widomcube, I made it my religion to see him as a battered corpse :3
  10. NinjaTurtle

I think of Emma Watson  Then I charge to certain death by explosive spam

Seeing members of BLING. For those not on cobalt, bling is an outfit of elite pilots and prowler drivers which counts the youtuber mattiace among their number. I don't hold anything against them personally, but they're mostly very skilled, and spend a lot of time farming infantry players like me so I go to extraordinary lengths to take out their vehicles, sneaking on foot for miles to c4 prowlers and trying to lure ESFs into friendly flak.

In a game this big and directionless, it's fun to have some personal goals or targets you'll go that extra mile to complete. For me, that's killing BR100 players from the toughest outfits (I go after chimera and kain to a lesser extent as well)
  12. NinjaTurtle

Oh and if PS2 ever makes it MLG they should get Poonanners to do the commentary along with DuhGovenator
  13. Iridar51

Well it's not hate, more like sense of competition. I remember one time I played in biolab, and there were several LA players from prominent VS outfit, and I enjoyed beating the crap out of them. I even wrote down the score ;)

I do hate tanks, libs, lolpodders and AI MAXes though. There even was a time I'd send a hate tell after blowing one up.

The one thing that always stirs me up is when a PPA Magrider is spamming a fight where it is complete overkill and he is just farming away happily.

For some reason, probably because my NC lacks a weapon with the same farm potential, this always pisses me off.

It generally ends with a c4 attached to them from the skies or an stealth Vanguard sticking a 150mm AP Titan up its bum :)
  15. jiggu

Every time our dear Crown is under attack i redeploy and unleash swift fury. Never get tired of that place
  16. FaLI3N

AV mana turrets used to get my blood boiling.. I would sound-***** them from 1000's of metres away and go on the most ridiculous flanking maneuvers just so I could ram them with my tank from behind :p

The only things that get me annoyed now are ESF squadrons really deep behind enemy lines ganking low BR pilots and every single liberator ever, especially if they are hovering over a 1-12 fight. Feels so dam good every time I pluck one of them from the sky with my lightning AP or scare them away from their 1-12 spawn room camp after hitting them 3 times in a row.

Only thing stirs me to action is when were losing a base, im holding on to it by mere seconds and suddenly like 5 NC rush out hte spawn room...then 5 more...then 5 more, then suddenly I realize a mass of reinforcements arrived....
  18. Whatupwidat

Hearing a cloak and seeing no friendlies nearby. I love hunting predators in the name of FREEDOM! :p

Proton II PPA farmers. I was defending TI Alloys against a large VS zerg when I got killed by PPA splash damage behind a corner inside a building. AKA in an otherwise safe place. The killer? ScourgeOfTheServer in a harasser Proton II PPA , getting driven around by SirKane.

I spent the next six deaths as a light assault jumping, charging, and sneaking through spawncamping shots and enemies to try to get to their harasser which was flush against the southern building, peeking out westward for shots on our spawnroom.

When I finally got a second or two of opportunity on the building above their harasser I was freaking out. C4 could not have dropped and armed any slower . I spammed my C4 trigger hoping they landed close enough to take them out - and I was rewarded with the glorious sound of harasser death, the names of ScourgeOfTheServer and SirKane across my killfeed, and chirping cert birds . Half a second later I get decimated by a Magrider Supernova or something, but death is cheap - glory eternal.

    LIBERTY OR DEATH.

Leeroy Jenkins Lightning death runs. 30 AP rounds and 30 secs of glorious AV massacre. Best is when you catch a viper farmer by suprise and they can't figure out what took 50% of their health away. They figure it out ~2 seconds later when the second shell clogs their tailpipe :D

Oh, and Skyguard death runs. Best score was a Harasser, 3 infantry, and a BR 2 magrider.

Not really inspiration ut more or less proof that sometimes no plan is the best plan.
