I was just floating 10yards away from a ridge in a big battle and suddenly it showed a dead friendly and an NC soldier with a rocket aimed at me and then I was nearly dead. It just happened while in a turret. This is the first ever problem ive had with this where another example 5 Prowlers on the front line suddenly showed as I got closer in my mossie, shocking SHOCKING.THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP
The rendering didn't get worse with the patch, it was always like this. In a decent sized battle, infantry at range don't animate or update in real-time. Which makes the job of a range-sniper all the more difficult. Also the bug where the enemy appears to be looking away but then shoots bullets out of his gun sideways, that aint fixed.
It got a lot worse. The game is literally unplayable for me now, whatever the patch did yesterday, killed my game client. All settings low for the first time, render distance minimal, sat at an almost empty base, huge FPS drops and lag. In huge battles, equally as bad. Pre-patch; 200+ people, heavy battles, explosions, med-high settings, no issues at all other than the pumpkin update hitching (solved with a forum thread about killing a phys x thread (of which I'm now noticing there's 2 of them - one being un-killable without killing the client)). Pre-pumpkin; absolutely, no issues at all, flawless FPS. -sigh-
It really sucks when the enemies are just a bit further away. In battles that are a little larger they'll jump around or simply disappear. I don't even snipe nor do I the really long distance fights and still it's absolutely annoying. Random and unpredictable behaviour of targets due to technological problems is really something to avoid at all costs in a first person shooter. Means: FIX IT PLEASE! - And do it soon. Get DX11 into your ancient engine for a much better parallel processing, get larger servers with more power, work on and increase the tick rate (worked fine for Battlefield 4), do whatever is necessary. If this doesn't get better I'll definitively cancel my subscription to move on. Won't pay for or play a game that's not showing significant improvements in critical regards or is even getting worse over time. If you're not willing to invest in Planetside 2 I won't either. Would be a shame, though.
Try starting the game few times or wait 10 minutes or more in between. For me whenever I start the game first, performance is like fine for few seconds than its max 20fps all of a sudden showing GPU as bottleneck. Waited 30 minutes, started game again and it was working fine for 3 hours. Sometimes there is no gpu bottleneck but the fps is lower than what its supposed to be, I can't really explain it. No its no hardware related because everything else works fine except this game.
Definitely every new patch makes things even worse -in a game already had TONS of serious issues pre Valkyrie patch- Yesterday was the 2nd time i uninstalled PS2 -until i see a light in the horizon- Seriously i (as others do) strongly believe you have downgraded your services (Hardware quality/Bandwidth or both) FIX this game
Actually I will correct myself - although it could get bad before. Since the latest 'patch' the game is pretty much unplayable for me during the afternoons/evenings. Enemies disappearing. 5000ms pings. Hits not registering. Getting shot when you are 3 metres behind cover. Taking 2 seconds for your cloak to activate after you've pressed the button or even worse, 2 seconds to de-activate when you need to engage someone. FUBAR
I can't even get in to see the problems you guys are experiencing Team Sony. Pro. Team Planetside 2 Coding Team. Pro.
