Well i tried to get back into playing PS2 after a break, and after a few weeks playing after work, im not really impressed with what SOE has done to the game or where its heading. Now before this turns into a faction vs faction which people seem to always want to do i will state right here now that i have 3 accounts on all factions like depending on the what the global pop is like because i play the faction with less players for the % bonus so my accounts are BR50 on TR BR34 on NC BR19 on VS I play on Miller which when i left was in generally good cond, but when i return its mostly swamped by Vanu tonight it was 37% VS, 31% TR and 31% NC. Now i left before all this alert thingy game came about so it took me awhile to work out what it was all about but after a few hours playing i got used to it, it was a good idea apart from the fact that when i joined a platoon i was constantly being told to redeploy here and there and it was generally getting annoying. I can see why people began calling this redeploymentside because to me this was by far the most absurd idea you have in the game, you have basicly removed logistical & tactical strategy from the game and turned it into a crash-party spam fest. I liked it when platoons would attack with a large size from gal drops but this seems to have replaced by a spawn-spew of some platoon just hoping all over the cont whenever a base is under siege. Like at least with gal drops you had to get a galaxy, get your men inside it get to the drop zone without getting blown out the sky, get passed the air defences to drop your dudes onto the enemy, i liked it when players did it and i liked doing it myself. But now because of what you did with how players can spawn, it happens out of a blue moon so gee thanks. Another thing is that C4 is everywhere, Its like good finnaly getting a fight going when theres a bunch of sundies attacking your base getting deployed im like ere we go ere we gooooo were in business, bout to have a big big fight and KABOOOMski.. oh quess not some random LA dude blew up the enemy spawn point after 10seconds grrrreat, people blow them up FAR too quickly before battles have even began and everyone gets reward from big fights cause of gaining certs. And what the hell is with all these damn cloaked flashes? Its just stupid it should be a flash with cloak and no weapon or weapon and no cloak, they should'nt be able to use both thats just ridiculous, your supposed to make this game balanced and yet you introduce this kind of thing, what the hell were you thinking? And another thing the Striker, well yeh its pretty awful the last time i used it was a lockon fire mode and was pretty pants then but now well since using it for a week i think i killed 1 person + aircraft so its rather useless. I stopped using altogether because the other launchers i have the AA & AG can do the job much much better so im not sure what actual purpose this weapon has or you think it has because i seen none whatsoever. I like to get back into playing this game, but these issues which i mentioned are just really dividing the game from being tactical and enjoyable to just plain silly. When i mentioned these issues whilst ingame quite a few people agreed that these are what their thoughts are also. Im not sure what the community is like overall. Coordinated Gal drops are one of the absolute coolest things about this game. I know that for many, redeployside is a nightmare that has damaged logistics and makes the game feel random at times (defend and surround a base for 3 mins, nothing going on, about to cap, then boom, 30 Max's appear out of thin air). But I'd like to see it fixed if only because it negates one of the single coolest aspects of this game, the one thing that makes it feel like a "massive" game - the coordinated Gal drop.
Basically, the cycle has continued. They continue to release bare-bones features into the games with the promise of "we'll finish it later", then never speaking of it again, while continuing to promise bigger and bigger things that are massively dumbed down when they finally hit the live servers 3+ months later. However, the empty promises are still very appealing. I literally have unlimited patience for this game.
