What do you expect from a medic and an Engineer?

I can't reply to all of your suggestions and I will just want to thank each one of you for contributing. Currently the amount of suggestions for both support classes have been taken note of. Everything should be already covered but if you don't see what you think can be a great tip to people who are reading the guide, please post it in this thread. If not, please don't post it because Its and inconvenience to reread the same thing over and over again. What I currently need is a few opinions on weapons available to this 2 classes and even a review written or a video with live commentary which would be appreciated. The guide is almost complete and it should be released by today with audio. I would love to create a video which talks about this 2 classes but I don't seem to have much time in my hands now. Other than that thank you for your support! :D

I expect a medic to heal if nearby and I am below 50% HP.
I expect ammo from an Engineer if I request it.

Other than that, I expect them to at least try not to shoot me in the face.
  3. Furrydaus

Thanks for showing me another point of view to this class. A more attacking role than supportive .
  4. Morti

    I expect nothing.

You can't be disappointed if you never expected anything in the first place.
  5. Furrydaus

I originally meant what do you think about the combat medic class but I posted it as expecting. My mistake
  6. Taemien

    PUGs:

Medic/Engineer - I expect nothing. I'd prefer if they kept shooting and learn how to do that before trying to do their support roles. Assault rifles and Carbines are pretty good at that and are easier to use than LMGs. So I don't expect them to just go heavy like some others do.

    Squadmates:

Medics - I expect them to have their medic tools leveled up so when they do rez, its to a decent health level and a stray rock falling on Earth doesn't kill me.

Engineers - Drop ammo packs in rooms/parameters we're camped at. Repair maxes and vehicles, especially the spawning sundy.
  7. Nocturnal7x

Kill first. Heal/revive later. You are a combat class, that can heal and revive people. Some medics forget they have a gun.
  8. Furrydaus

Thank you for your support. The guide has been completed and the Audio and Video Linking will be done in about 5-8 hours time. The link to the completed guide will be posted up on this thread once it has been completed. ;)

am i the only medic who use smg? sometimes i find it fits better then assault rifle

vs weapons: sirius (smg) or hv-45.

if u play medic stay in cover ALWAYS!! heal or revive only if u think its safe to go out of ur cover. if u see ur friendly has low hp leave him die. u can ress him much faster.

other things have been already said so no good to say them again

I believe you aren'tt the only one! Thanks for not repeating it fellow Auraxian!

    Medic:

I expect medics to ignore me and go right past me or run around in circles and ignore the skull & crossbones on their map...
I expect them to hide in the spawn and only shoot their rez guns at guys who die just outside the spawn room.
I expect them to take c4 and smg's and cert into max repairing armor so they can press f and heal themselves and wait a sec and heal their armor and be the only class that can fully heal themselves, blow up tankls and kill infantry all while ignoring the task of healing others.

    --------------------------------------------

    Engineer:

I expect engineers to heal their own tanks like pros , drop turrets and forget to drop ammo....ignore screams and cries for more ammo...ignore the pleas of wounded maxes waiting for armor repairs...all while spamming sticky grenades, nade launching from the spawn room, or deploying the anti vehicle turret and using it like a laser guided sniper rifle to kill infantry 300 m away....and STILL not dropping any ammo behind them. Oh, and also I expect hem to place mines by generators and around friendly troops so that a generator blowing or a stray grenade or targeted shot by the enemy causes as many friendly casualties as mathematically possible......and still no ammo 8-(

    Just kidding......

I really just appreciate the random heals and rez's i get....and the random repairs in key situations....and those engys who DO take the time to drop ammo ....and do it in smart / key positions.....it makes this game great....but I dont get all rage-crazy when a pub engy or medic doesnt do these things......thats what being in an outfit or squad is all about. You really cant expect to play lone wolf and have the other engys and medics cater to your prox calls for service. They might be busy doing other things or actually part of a squad or outfit and not have tiome to help every lone wolf out there.

    Just my 2 cents

Everything has already been said above.

One last thing to remember: you are very likely to be a priority target for any enemy infiltrators around. So you need to know the telltale signs of their activity, keep your eyes peeled and not present yourself as a target for sniper fire if at all possible. You wouldn't believe the amount of distorted silhouettes running around that nobody seems to notice until it's too late. Just knowing what to look for and never assuming that there are no infiltrators around you because you haven't seen any yet would go a long way.

Golden rule number one. DON'T DIE. Rambo medics that get themselves killed are useless, I always laugh when I see 5 medics running into a building before the heavies! Same with engi's, dedicate yourself to a max, and STAND BEHIND HIM! I've seen engis take fire standing in front of an NC max with its shield up. o_O

Golden rule number 2 - You are a support class, so think about how YOU would want to be supported. It's annoying when you get rezzed in front of an enemy who kills you again right? Maybe shoot that enemy before trying to rez. Hate having to run around looking for an ammo pack? Put one where YOU would look for one.

Golden rule number 3 - Don't be greedy with XP. Just because you get more XP supporting people in your platoon, doesn't mean you shouldn't help people that are not!

As a elite medic I shall give you the ultimate tip on how to a true medic who has a craving for certs.

-Never run in front of allies always let them go first(These are decoy peasants and only has one duty and that to distract the enemy while u kill them).

-See a dead body? don't run out to him with ur med gun always have your primary out and make sure no enemy is around before u revive.

-See a bunch of allies dieng in front of you? Don't revive move back and take cover. Your main concern is you and you alone you shouldn't try to revive an ally just to get yourself killed and him again.

-Gauss rifle is a good weapon for close-medium range and if you are a good shot you can take down multiple enemys

-Always look at your MAP for enemys and dead allies

-Infiltrators will most likely target you so like I said always run to a body with your primary out and make sure no enemy is around

-You will be targeted the most so do your best not to die

-See a medic about to revive someone? kill the medic then revive the person and leave the medic for dead.(That your cert and you shouldn't let some peasant steal your certs)

-See someone near death? don't heal him wait for him to die then revive him. Still see the enemys? don't worry take cover and revive the dead guy he will most likely keep accepting the revives hence free certs.

-see an enemy about to shoot your ally? shoot your ally then start shooting the enemy. What this do? not only did u nearly kill ur ally but you will most likely kill your enemy while he kills your ally hence a kill and a revive.

    Engineer
-AI turret is your friend deploy it and use it as cover you don't know how useful this is

    -Always drop ammo packs

-repair the max. If you see the max entering in area say about 30+ enemys do not follow him they will most likely kill you first then the max.

-Never deploy a turret with 2 entrances always put it near the edge or wall so you can't get killed from behind.

-See a max? run ***** because he will kill u while your on the turret

-Anti-tank mines are more then just mines u can drop it and shoot it to kill maxes and infantry

-Best medium range combo - Deploy AI turret use it as cover and use the Warden you will most likely not get killed by infiltrators.

    What I expect from Medics:
    • If you are going to revive me, please check that the areas is reasonably clear beforehand.
    • If you don't have a high level revive, please top me off once you've revived me - I'll wait and provide cover.
    • You have a weapon, do not be afraid to use it (just be careful about getting tunnel vision).
    • C4 makes for fantastic booby traps for enemy MAX units.
What I expect from other players
    • Do not stare at me while I heal you, I am defenseless and need you to cover both of us while I heal you.
    • Do not run away from me when I get a heal beam on you. Healing badly damaged people takes longer than just killing them and reviving them at full health (with full med tool). You really don't want to tempt me...
    • Thankyous are greatly appreciated (V -> 1).
    • I am not your personal heal bot - I will heal/revive when I think it is most appropriate, and kick down doors at other times. Requesting heals via voice macros will get my attention, and if I don't have more pressing needs you'll get a heal.

  18. SevenTwo

I think two points are missing:

    1. DON'T PANIC

A good engineer/ medic is the ballsy guy/girl, who can keep calm in the thick of a firefight while doing their job - this means being able to make the tough calls under fire (who gets rezzed/repaired first) and not being afraid of following your guys into the jaws of death.

    2. Man up*

Your team is basically only does as good as you are brave, meaning that you need to follow your team mates into the heat of battle and support them where they are - a medic is no good at the back of the lines, when his squadmates are dying on the frontlines, while stronger assault classes rely on the engineer to provide ammo and secure their flanks with explosives. In the same note an engineer needs to be willing to die for his Sunderer if it's the only thing keeping the current fight going.

While not as "specific" as weapon/loadout/playstyle suggestions, these two points are in my opinion the foundation of everything the two classes should be doing. :D

    *equally applicable to females.

Screw that, what I want to know is how you can afford a 1 TB SSD and yet run with a Radeon 5450. o_O
  20. MrMurdok

I expect them to shoot their guns and kill bad guys like every other class in this game.

Also, if they want, they can heal/revive/resupply me.
