What AR should I get?

I was saving up for the MCG for HA but in all honesty I only play HA to do AA and switch back to CM during actual combat.

So my question is what AR should I get since I am getting close to 1000 certs. I was really thinking about the new TORQ due to it being flexible but I am also kind of interested in the SABR.

I find myself in CQC often but I also tend to randomly end up in situations that I just wish I had a way to more reliably pick people off from a distance.

For long range engagements, go with the SABR-13. It's an amazing gun as everyone will probably tell you. As for close range combat, I would grab the TAR, Cycler TRV, or even stick with the T1 Cycler.

The TAR and the Cycler TRV both have much higher RoF than the T1 Cycler, but the T1 is a bit more flexible when it comes to close-medium range engagements. Obviously though, the TAR and the Cycler TRV will outperform the T1 in firefights within 10 m or so due to their higher RoF.

Edit: Also, don't just take my word for it. Go ahead and try everything in the VR and see what you like. Trial a couple of them as well so you can see how they perform in actual combat situations. But I'm sure you already knew that. ;)

The TORQ is freaking incredible at all ranges and in all situations and it is the #1 choice for any TR Medic right now and nothing else should be considered until you own it.

Get the Cycler TRV if you like CQC.
2002 DPS, 0.498 TTK, 5 Kills Per Mag, very low recoil.

I got the TAR a while ago. It is a nice cheap weapon and it is so great when in the heart of a base. I can easily nab a couple kills while trying to clear enemies away from downed allies.

The main point of the topic is to narrow down to a couple guns to trial. Right now the VR isn't working with scopes so I can't test them properly. So at this point thee SABR and the TORQ are the two that are my leading candidates as I hear good things about the TORQ and I have seen some good stuff from the SABR.

Another vote for TAR. The TORQ is very versatile though. Just beware with the TORQ, that SOE has a pattern of releasing weapons in a strong state and then nerfing them once everyone has bought them and its complained about on forumside

It's good but I wouldn't go that far. It's not newbie friendly - It requires you to be very precise with headshots if you want any reasonable ttk.

    Matter of preference though.

Cycler TRV is good and it's free from the quiz.

    Low recoil? o_O
  10. Aeravic

Yes, low recoil and even lower if you have a Forward Grip on it. I can put out a burst of around 5-7 bullets on target before the COF starts to kick in.
  11. Aeravic

Listen to this guy. Headshots are a must with the TORQ due to it's low damage tier. If you go for body shots, you will take a noticeably long amount of time to down a single person. Needless to say, Heavies with NMG activated will be a nightmare to kill with body shots.

Burst firing is necessary sometimes, but it ruins the selling point of this gun - it's crazy ROF.
  13. Aeravic

Not really, higher ROF also means you can burst fire much faster with each burst finishing up more quickly than weapons with lower ROF.

TRV burst fire is really only needed at mid-long distances though. I'm talking like from the distance from the top floor of a tower to the ground floor. Anyone in between that distance will die to a hailstorm of bullets. =D

I actually find the TAR superior to the TRV at any range bar hugging distance. Also - the TRV kick to the left and I keep forgetting that when compensating for recoil.

Has TAR access to advanced (forward grip and/or laser sight) attachments?

YOu can refer to the weapons pages on the wiki if you can't be bothered to go to VR, instead of asking on the forums.

As you can see yes ALS, no AFG.

Depending on how comfortable you are ADSing at closer ranges, don't forget about the NS-11A. Very reliable weapon, lower DPS than you might be used to, but good reload times and IIRC our only available 0.75 ADS speed Assault rifle for the TR. Fairly decent at range.

Beyond that i'd recommend the SABR. I'm a sucker for burst weapons though.
  18. MrK

    Wow ...
On one hand I thank you, on the other, I'm kind of baffled.
    FYI :
    1) I've no way of knowing how accurate the Wiki info is
    2) The VR is known to be buggy compared to live, especially concerning attachments, numerous cases of attachments being wrongly available in VR have been reported.

And no, I can't be bothered spending Certs on a TR alt character of mine, which would be the only 100% sure way to answer my question.... or go ask people who actually already did this.

Cycler TRV, I dropped the SABR-13 and TAR for that gun- I even choose it over the TORQ.

I don't know what exactly would work best for your playstyle, but here are my preferences:

    Close range - Cycler TRV

    Mid range - T1 Cycler or SABR-13

    Long range - SABR-13

    Mobile combat - NS-11A or T1B Cycler

    Well-rounded - T1 Cycler or NS-11A or T1B Cycler
