What am I doing wrong? Frame rate...

Okay, I can't figure this out. The game used to be quite playable for me (30fps in big fights but still smooth, hiccups every once in a while). Two months ago it just stopped being smooth. I would get 30fps at the warpgate, or sometimes 200. Didn't matter the number of entities. Regardless, now no matter what my graphics settings it is 30-200 outside of combat, and 5-20 closer to 10 inside of combat. But then sometimes it just jerks and goes all smooth with no jumps or anything, even in a fight. Yes it's only 20 or so FPS, but still quite playable. It's extremely frustrating.

I can only come up with a few issues that it could be, so if smarter people could help that'd be awesome. Here are my thoughts:

    1. Junky computer - possible, but then in theory it should stay playable...or even get more playable after this OMFG patch, but the test server has shown me no difference except now I can run it on medium settings and have the same exact frame rates (which also dumbfounds me).

    2. Over heating - I have noticed the computer has been overheating lately (it's a laptop). It could possibly be that, however the computer still has those random moments of smoothness when it works just fine, while it's still hot.

    3. Memory leak - The last option seems more likely...that there's a leak somewhere and it gets smooth as soon as the memory as dumped and bogs down when it fills back up.

    Here are my system specs:

Video Card: NVidia 650M (meets the minimum reqs) (1.5 gig vram, dedicated)
    Processor: Intel Core i7 - 2630 @ 2.0 Ghz (8 cores..yes I realize that planetside isn't optomized for that right now)
    RAM: 8 gig

I can give anything else upon request (within reason). Also, I've played this game since release, the major problems have only been in the last few months.

Have to ask the necessary question: Have you tried deleting your user options lately? The patches often conflict or mess up the frame rates for some reason, and deleting the .ini file can help sometimes.

Fair enough question. Didn't even think of trying that, sadly no change :(.
