So for about a month now I have a strange connection Issue to the Server. So after I took a few month break because of holidays and other realife stuff I decided, hey back to planetside, but I then noticed something was off. First I thought it was the Server but then quickly I noticed people where talking normal and nobody was complaining about issues. So I tried many things including talking to some friends from my outfit and other people who have some knowledge about network etc. and we have searched for a solution but nothing worked. The Issue: Now whats the issue exactly well its simpel I log on everything seems fine beside a odd looking 80ms server latency number shown when I open the stats tab to check connection (strange habbit I have is always check my ping since I used to have bad internet a few years ago) then the latency get lower again to its usual normal 24-32ms. When I now warp on any continent that is active and I get near a fight (sometimes its enough just getting inside the Hex where a fight is happening) my ping just rises indefinitely it makes jumps like 533ms, 1253ms, 4000ms, 6000ms, etc. and if I leave the hex let say by redeploying and I am lucky I can spawn in a empty hex or warpgate and sometimes I still get disconnected before I can spawn and sometimes I get respawned and the ping after about 1 min or so get normal again. I even checked if I could do anything else and funny enough yes the game also works just fine for the most part when I am flying ESF until I get shot down near a big fight then same issue arises again massive ping spike and then I pray I can spawn. also I should mention that the issue is barely noticeable when I am in smaller fight like 1-12 vs1-12 and the more people get to the fight the more I feel the issue at 12-24 vs12-24 I get more and more often ping spikes mit gunfights around the 1000+ and at 24-48 vs 24-48 is it when the ping spike get the worse and just rises until I get disconnected from the server. What have I done to fix it myself? I basicly did everything you could imagine: I checked the cables, I check my router, made a speedtest wile the issue is happening, I did a factory reset on the router and even contacted the tech support of my provider and even they said everything works normal. I even reinstalled planetside 2 like 3-4 times new with steam and without and checked for corrupt data and no results the issue persists. So now I made a ticket to daybreak and ask there they just said make a forum post and here I am. So here I am trying to get somebody maybe from the dev team to look into it and hopefully I can play normal again since I want to be honest just flying in planetside can get boring and I also enjoy infanterie gameplay and hope I finally get some help and the Issue resolved
Hi, what server are you playing on while encountering those issues, do you have Characters on others server to test if this only happens on one or multiple servers? The strong changes in your latency based on player numbers is a known issue. The easiest "fix" would be to use a QoS VPN. The Dev Team was made aware of this issue a few months ago by a small group of players and at the moment it affects more players thus getting pushed on radar more often. Thank You for posting, this confirms the issue is still ongoing.
Well seem like I will take a longer break then expected I guess since I dont trust/like VPN, it feels a bit like cheating. I also play almost exclusively on Wainwright and yes the issue is still happening on osprey and even when I am on another account. Honestly it schocking for me to actually play just fine for 14+ years and now these issues effect me but oh well good that I have patience I guess I will see if it get better maybe I get the courage to look for a VPN I can trust but it will feel wrong to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still thank you for the reply tho very much appreciated!
I have the same problem since the fishing update behind where it was said to go and upgrade the servers since then we don't know who is going to pass, can't wait for the next maintenance it will fix all these problems it's really annoying
