A new mini-series dedicated to looking at the directive weapons and answering the question of "Was it worth the effort in order to unlock them?"

That was a surprisingly excellent video, except for the whole basis of it... and that's the idea of "working towards" the god saw, or any directive weapon... it just doesn't make sense.

All the directive weapons are unambiguously "specialist" weapons - they aren't necessarily intended to be competitive, just unique, something that someone who's spent so much time with a class of weapons that they've auraxiumed 5 of them might enjoy for a change from the typical options.

Basically if you compare the weapons on a competitive level versus their stock counterparts you should come to the same conclusion every time (with some slight exceptions, such as the sniper rifles and shotguns), as that's how they're designed to be.

Maybe a slight change in tone from "is it worth it?" to "was it worth it?" would be an easy way to sidestep the issue, and ultimately give a less competitive rating of the weapon, as it'd be more of a explanation of the weapon's performance rather than value.

Though yeah, despite that little detail, really fantastic video, keep it up man.

Amazing video man. Subscribed there and then. I have the Gauss Saw completely decked out on my NC character but I've pretty much never used it. I'll definitely have to go back and put into practice what I saw in this video.

It answers alot of questions for people like me who hasent gotten a single auraxium yet and are thinking about sacrificing time and sometimes fun to try and aurax 5 guns (4 for SMGs).

Will you be working on NC exclusively? Auraxium guns seems to take a while to get and im guessing TR and VS isnt really a priority if you main NC.

Also, would you recommend going to SMGs first for someone who doesent have alot of time to play every day?
One less auraxium and being able to use it on all classes seems very tempting.

Bad optics and the strange choice of "attachments" mean it's probably generally worse than the basic NC6 SAW upgraded in the way everyone actually does it (comp+foregrip optional HVA).

Cheers man, the feedback is greatly appreciated. When it comes to other factions I do plan on getting there, but as you stated it is going to take a while for those exact reasons.

I like the format, but I don't think the question was answered properly.

The Godsaw offers 50 extra ammo over the Gaussaw. That's about it's only advantage. You are stuck with the optic (which might be swappable later on) and stuck with all other attachments on the weapon. One of the problems, which you described as an advantage, was the lack of difference between short and fast reload. The Gauss Saw uses a long reload of 7,5 and a short reload of 6,5. The Godsaw has a short and long reload of both 7,5. So you are actually reloading as if you emptied your magazine whatever you do.

The Gauss Saw is a formidable weapon already. It's relatively slow fire rate and high recoil is offset by it's high damage. The slow fire rate means you can fight entire skirmishes with one 100 ammo magazine. I think it will happen too rarely that you need the extra 50 ammo the Gauss Saw offers.

The Godsaw as far as I can see it has too many downsides. No customizability, a longer short reload and barely any use for the 50 extra ammo doesn't make it a good weapon, it makes it a downgrade even.

A minor irritation I have is when people complain about the Saw's 'high recoil'. Its exclusively vertical recoil - which is ridiculously easy to account for. In fact, the exclusive vertical recoil makes it easier to land headshots.

I vote hell no its not worth it.

its a NC6 Gauss SAW with exmag, no grip and a crappy 1x optic. It is otherwise entirely identical to the NC6. Its not like it has a new skin to maybe give it a slightly new feel, instead its a recycled EM1.

Directive weapons shoulda been actually worth grinding for.

Make the GodSAW like 525RpM, or .49 V Recoil, and certainly give all the guns different models. Balance the better RoF maybe with more Horiztonal jitter, making the GodSAW a more CQCish Gauss SAW. Given it has a 1x on it and exmag...its certainly equipped to be a CQC weapon.

First it does have the Adv Foregrip, they added it in with the compensator stats. As for optics there was talk from the devs that they might allow other optics in a later patch.

It still has horizontal tolerance, which is 0.525. Sure it's not the Orion, Carvs or TAR's tolerance, but you still acumulate it. Slowly and randomly.

No, it has forward grips stats, not ADVANCED Forward grip, AFG on NC6 reduces horizontal tolerance and recoil (more than it's reduced in NC6A), Flash compensator works has value of only a FG.

Still doesnt make it any more worth the grind.

Most of the people here seem to be forgetting this has the flash suppressor debuff due to the Auraxium Compensator.
Which makes it suck that much harder. It's not usable at range at all.

I was noticing some accuracy issues at range. If this is the case with the special compensator then this weapon is just digging a deeper hole for itself.

First of all a nice review
Second, I saw a video of Higby on Twitch.tv in which he said, that the aurxium-weapons will be looked at. (http://www.twitch.tv/planetside2/b/560192424 can't remember where exactly, but I think somewhere in the middle of the video)
For the Godsaw in special he mentiones something like special HVA do strengthen its long-range roll. In contrast to the TR "butcher", which is supposed to be a close/midrange LMG.

Sooo, maybe the Godsaw will become more unique in the future

anyway I'm looking forward to get it in my hands, as I already love the SAW and just because of the name

I'm almost done auraxing the last weapon for the GODsaw... but after watching this... IDK. The godsaw sounds overall much worse from your video... Just doesn't seem worth it.
